August 13 - Hold On With Everything You Got White Sox

Suds, Schwab, JT, and Nick Sr. jump into the studio for another White Sox Therapy session after a frustrating series loss to Cincinnati — but with the Sox still sitting 2.5 games up in the AL Central as the dog days of August arrive. The guys break down a rough stretch that included the bullpen collapse against the Reds, Davis Martin’s continued first-inning struggles, and a 7–9 record over the previous two weeks. Despite the recent skid, the Sox remain in first place heading into a massive weekend series in Detroit. Then it’s time to revisit the trade deadline and hand out grades for Chris Getz’s moves. Topics include: The painful series loss to CincinnatiWhether Will Venable mismanaged the bullpenDavis Martin’s first-inning struggles and whether the Sox should use an openerLuis Castillo’s impressive early showing and increased changeup usageTrading Boston Smith and whether the Sox gave up a future impact batBrenton Doyle’s defense, speed, and long-term fit in center fieldThe addition of Huascar Brazoban to the bullpenOverall grades for the White Sox trade deadlineWhether the Sox should have been more aggressive with rental pitchingThe heated debate over Colson Montgomery’s futureWhether Montgomery should have been traded for controllable starting pitchingHis power, strikeout issues, and struggles with runners in scoring positionThe Sox’s young infield depth with prospects waiting in the wingsAnthony Kay’s strong stretch, Chase Meidroth’s hot bat, and Edgar Quero’s improvementDrew Thorpe and other pitching reinforcements potentially on the way The episode closes with some much-needed PMA. Despite heartbreaking losses, slumps, and plenty of reasons for White Sox fans to panic, this young team continues to bounce back — and they still control the AL Central heading into one of the biggest series of the season. Is this team ready to hold onto first place and make a real run at October, or will the lack of a bigger deadline splash come back to haunt them? The sky isn’t falling yet. Sit back, relax, hold on for one more day… and strap it down, White Sox Therapy.
