Episode 43 — What I'd Tell My Younger Self | Lessons on Delegation and Letting Go

Episode 43 — What I'd Tell My Younger Self | Lessons on Delegation and Letting Go If I could sit down with the man running those hotels — before any of this happened — I know exactly what I'd tell him. Not slow down. Not stop dreaming. Something else entirely. Master the art of delegation. I mastered nearly every part of that industry myself — cruise liners, cleaning, stocking bars, cooking, running weddings start to finish. But insisting on doing everything myself meant I was never outside the pond. I was in the weeds. In this episode I talk about where that cost me back then, where it still shows up now running a small team in the forestry, and why — honestly — it's actually got a bit easier since. If you're doing everything yourself right now, running on empty, this one's for you. 🔗 Free 7-Day Mind Reset Plan:  👉 https://strongerafterthestorm.com/the-7-day-mind-reset-plan/ This is Stronger After the Storm. EPISODE 42 — Learning to Respond, Not React | Steadying Your Triggers After a Heart Attack

EPISODE 42 — Learning to Respond, Not React | Steadying Your Triggers After a Heart Attack  I've always known how to stay calm under pressure — behind a bar on a chaotic night, running a kitchen where every second counted. But it took a heart attack to teach me to use that same skill on myself.  This episode is about the gap between reacting and responding. A recent moment at work where I snapped instead of pausing. The early days of recovery, catching myself overexerting and having to consciously bring my mind back. And the simple thing that actually works now — bite the lip, take a breath, walk away.  Responding instead of reacting isn't about never feeling the trigger. It's what you do in the few seconds after.  🔗 Free 7-Day Mind Reset Plan:  👉 https://strongerafterthestorm.com/the-7-day-mind-reset-plan/  This is Stronger After the Storm. Episode 41 — A Different Kind of Strong | Redefining Strength After a Heart Attack

Episode 41 —  A Different Kind of Strong | Redefining Strength After a Heart Attack Before my heart attack, strength meant one thing. Throwing full kegs of beer around with ease. Lifting heavy timber. Wrestling hung trees to the ground. Strength was physical, and it was everything. After the heart attack, that felt gone. I thought all my effort would need to go into protecting a weak, fragile heart. I didn't think it could ever stand physical exertion again. That was terrifying. Then cardiac physio changed everything — the lesson that the heart is a muscle, one that needs work to get stronger, just like any other. Two and a half years later I crossed the finish line of my first marathon and felt like Goliath. But the real strength I found wasn't in the running. It was in learning my limitations. Setting boundaries. Being honest about my weaknesses. Having the courage to say no. This episode is about the strength nobody tells you about after a heart attack — the kind that looks completely different, and is worth so much more. 🔗 Free 7-Day Mind Reset Plan:  👉 https://strongerafterthestorm.com/the-7-day-mind-reset-plan/ This is Stronger After the Storm. Episode 40 — Why Me? | Letting Go of Blame After a Heart Attack

Episode 40 — Why Me? | Letting Go of Blame After a Heart Attack After my heart attack, when the question hit — why me — I already knew part of the answer. Years of running hotels. Two kitchens. Lots of staff. Six in the morning until one or two the next day, seven days a week. I'd looked in the mirror and known something had to change. I gave up the hotels, went back to forestry, and thought I'd dodged the bullet. Then double pneumonia. Then six months later — a heart attack. But not everyone knows why it happened to them. And this week that landed closer to home than usual. Because some men never get a clear answer. And sitting with that unanswered question can keep you stuck looking backwards when the only healthy place to go is forward. This episode is about letting go of blame — with or without the answers. 🔗 Free 7-Day Mind Reset Plan:  👉 https://strongerafterthestorm.com/the-7-day-mind-reset-plan/ This is Stronger After the Storm. Episode 39 — Who Am I Now? | Finding Your Identity After a Heart Attack

Episode 39 — Who Am I Now? | Finding Your Identity After a Heart Attack When I got home from hospital after my heart attack, I walked through the front door, sat on the couch, and looked at my family photos on the wall. I thought I'd seen them for the last time. Within days the fear and anxiety hit. I'd lie on the pillow every night listening to my own heartbeat, asking it to keep going until morning. But fear wasn't the only thing that came. There was euphoria too. Anger. Grief for the man I used to be. And eventually a quiet reckoning with the question I wasn't ready for. Who am I now? This episode opens a new chapter — life after the initial recovery, and the deeper work of figuring out who you've become on the other side of it. 🔗 Free 7-Day Mind Reset Plan:  👉 https://strongerafterthestorm.com/the-7-day-mind-reset-plan/ This is Stronger After the Storm. Episode 38 Helping Others Without Losing Yourself

Episode 38 Helping Others Without Losing Yourself In this episode I talk about something that crept up on me without me realising it — the weight of carrying other people's struggles when you've been open about your own. When you've been honest about what you've been through, people start opening up to you. That's a good thing. But I found myself pouring out more than I was putting back in, and that's not something you can sustain. I share what that felt like, what I had to get honest with myself about, and why just showing up — steady, honest, not running on empty — is more useful than trying to fix anything for anyone. If you're the one people lean on, your own head needs looking after first. The 7-Day Mind Reset Plan is free, and it's in the link below. https://strongerafterthestorm.com/the-7-day-mind-reset-plan/  I'm taking a short break over the next couple of weeks, but I'll be back with more soon.  This is Stronger After the Storm.
