He previously owned Transitions Counseling Services in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Michael is a Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist with Supervision distinction. Michael has over 20 years conducting Diagnostic Assessments, Treatment planning, and conducting therapeutic sessions with individuals, couples, and families. Michael is a motivational speaker, and he is preparing to launch his podcast entitled "Healing the Village" soon. Michael received his bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University and his master’s degree from St. Mary's University of Minnesota. This episode also features Angelina Watkins, a Transformation Coach who has 25+ years of knowledge and experience in learning and development, team leadership, and personal development in the corporate sector. She is an alumnus of Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Organizational Leadership.     Anne Alston is the Founder of ALSTNTEC, a certified SBA and DBE business consulting company, and Executive Director of Destination Achievers, Inc, a Maryland 501c3 organization, both working to provide career and business training and mentoring services. Her primary mission is to ensure the sustainability and longevity of businesses and to assist those who need to build a career by providing specialized training programs and mentoring services. Anne's success would later embark on a new journey that would change the lives of thousands of people through her coaching sessions, empowerment speeches, conferences, and learning publications.  Along the way, she established a great number of partnerships, which have yielded her opportunities to present her workshops to organizations and events that work directly with the local community, educational institutions, and private/non-profit organizations.

    This episode of Study Hall With Eugene W. Grant interviews Marnitta King, Esquire owner of King Law, LLC. and Dr. Lataishia Jones, owner of Hey Dr. Tay, Inc. Each of these young women spoke about their beginnings, challenges and struggles and how they overcame them in business. Additionally, Dr. Jones shared about being recognized among other women with a statue erected in Dallas, Texas in her honor and also the first Black Ph.D in her program from her University. Ms. King, who also served as the mayor of her small town, spoke of her lived experiences as a trial attorney representing her clients in and outside of the courtroom.

    How I Got Started

    In this episode, Eugene W. Grant had an engaging conversation with Ms. Shavon Dotson, who is founder of Dotson-King Consulting. Ms. Dotson talked about how she got started in her business and some of the challenges she faced. During the show she gave advice on how to get started stating, "Like Nike said, Just do it." She went on to share the importance to talk with people and reach out to get clients because, "Closed mouths don't get fed." Additionally, the Coronavirus presented numerous challenges to small business owners and Ms. Dotson gives her take on how she managed during the time of the pandemic and gave additional thoughts on the subject.
