Stuttering Your Way To Success, with Erik Weir Ep. 7

The Navy SEALs: Uncommon men with uncommon friendship and loyalty to each other.

The Navy SEALs creates teams of men with a unique closeness, loyalty and friendship not found anywhere else on earth, explains Thom Shea, author of Unbreakable. Shea served 23 years with distinguished valor as a Navy SEAL. During his career he served in three wars, ultimately leading a Team of Navy SEALs into Afghanistan in 2009, where he earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star with Valor, Army Commendation with Valor and his second Combat Action medal. Shea was "hand selected" to serve as officer-in-charge of the famed SEAL sniper course from 2009-2011.

"Commit without knowing. Seek each other first for answers. Listen without judgment. And if you can get through those three, every solution is readily available."

How To Be A Great Dad with Special Guest Brian Weir

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haRnvf8ctm8

Brian Weir is not only my father, but the most important mentor in my life.  His life has been defined by hard work, tender love to all of his children and grandchildren, a manly resolve to tackle the challenges of life, and faith in his Creator.

Dad was planning on retiring in his sixties, but I surprised him with an offer to be part of the family business. For the last twenty years we have worked together. In this episode of “Stuttering your way to success,” we share that story and the lessons learned from being a father and son team.

Most listeners will be encouraged to hear about Dad’s 64 year journey of marriage with my mom. The two are best friends and go out to breakfast together seven days a week.

“One of the greatest things I’ve learned from my dad is the world-changing influence a father can have on the next generation by remaining constant over many years. Consistently available. Consistently forgiving. Consistently loving.”  ~ Erik Weir

    In This Episode:

Secrets to 64 years of marriage

Who is Brian Weir, the father, businessman and friend.

How to give back to your wife, who has given to you for a half a century.

How my dad rolled during times of difficulty.

Fathers as mentors to the next generation.

    Attributes of life-changing fatherhood.

What it’s like to work with your father. With your son.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ctg-cTwqgco

Hasker Hudgens is a mentor, a man of God, and someone I’m proud to call a personal friend. Through his work at The Equipping Center, Hasker continues to make a positive impact on community through his leadership and service.

In this episode we learn about Hasker’s origin story, and what he would do differently if he was in his 20s again. Hasker shares the insights he’s learned from his hardships and how he has sought out mentors to help him help others.

There’s faith-based problem solving and a discussion around why quitting is not an option when you choose to serve. Hasker is truly an inspiration; his humility speaks volumes. Please join me in conversation with someone I have the utmost respect for.

“One of the greatest things I’ve learned with Hasker is that when you’re giving of yourself to helping others, you have a lot more joy in your life. And the pain you may be experiencing can be quickly offset because you’re helping somebody else.” ~ Erik Weir
