Yet Another Steve B ,

Digging the details of movie microcategories

Binge seasons of the fun, chatty Subgenre and you can’t help but pick up expertise in very specific corners of the cinematic universe. Crime movies? War movies? Too basic. Gentleman Thief pictures? Cinema de submarine? *That’s* more like it. Each episode finds the smart and affable Josh Dasal hashing over anything from a cornerstone to an outlier within that season’s theme, joined by a fellow film enthusiast who’s always engaging and informed (and, upon occasion, me. So, y’know … I know whereof I speak. /g) With a touch of trivia and historical context, Subgenre will have you revisiting favorites and discovering their lesser-known cousins. It’s a good hang.

Das Boot podcasts were totally engrossing & a blast!

The podcasts about Das Boot were absolutely fantastic. I’m a big film nerd, and I loved the way Josh and Steve did a deep dive (LOL) on all the lovely details, including the production, cultural significance, industry importance, characters, story arc, and careers of the cast and crew. Wow. What a treat. The the host and guest have a flowing, witty, obsessive energy that’s very appealing. I was totally engrossed throughout and am looking forward to listening to past and future episodes.
