One of the BEST

As a doc filmmaker, I’ve been listening for years, and I enjoy it so much! Smart. Insightful. Entertaining.

Okay, not great

A lot of unnecessary opinions. “I’d like to learn more about Epstein’s financial crimes in this.” Okay, well, it’s about victims, not about the abuser. If you’re examining this doc, how about being able, like any film student, to identify the makers’ goal, and then analyze how well the goal was achieved, rather than assuming any of us care about what you’d personally rather see. Or, at least, separating those two topics: what you would have preferred; what was accomplished juxtaposed with your perception of what was intended. Essentially: super basic analysis. Just commentary, not discovery. Also, I feel they are rude to guests (“I haven’t followed or checked your feed, do you write about this?”). Just on the sadder, lower end of professional, in general, but fine to let run in the background, I suppose. Don’t come to it to learn about documentary rhetoric or anything deep.
