TalkIn' Serbian Beginner - Episode 11 - How did I learn Serbian? - Chris' learning journey

We've actually never told you about Chris' learning journey. How is this possible? 😲Well, in this episode Chris is answering questions about his learning journey. You will find out what were the most difficult things for him in Serbian and how he overcame the fear of speaking in Serbian. We made sure this episode is beginner level (90%). We hope you will comprehend it, but if not you can always consult the materials we prepared for you: • transcript,• vocabulary list,• worksheet. All of these you can find on the following link: https://www.patreon.com/talkinserbianTRANSCRIPT You can get the transcript of our conversation in Serbian for a small donation on Patreon. The next one will be an intermediate episode and it will be an expansion of this one. A great chance for you to practice with a familiar topic, but on a slightly more difficult level. TalkIn' Serbian Beginner - Episode 10 - Birthdays in Serbia (Rođendan)

TalkIn' Serbian Beginner - Episode 10 - Birthdays in Serbia (Rođendan)

Our little boy turned one. As special as this is for any first-time parents, it also got us thinking about birthdays. We were talking about the usual birthday traditions, places to celebrate, and gifts. From a learning-Serbian point of view, there was always a struggle to learn to say dates. And the mere fact that in Serbian you say: “I have -number- years” (not I’m -number- years old) always confused everyone literally translating from English. So, these and more are the things you’re going to learn from this episode. And yes, it was supposed to be 15 mins tops, as always. But hey, things got out of hand. “Who knew there were so many things to talk about regarding birthdays?”, Chris added. Hope you’ll enjoy it! Let us know in the comments how you celebrate birthday in your country. Na srpskom, naravno.  Chapters00:00 Introduction00:40 When is your birthday?02:16 How to say “happy birthday” in Serbian06:34 Typical birthday presents in Serbia09:49 Birthday traditions in Serbia13:15 Let us explain everything (English part) TRANSCRIPTYou can get the transcript of our conversation in Serbian for a small donation on Patreon. TalkIn' Serbian Beginner - Episode 09 - "At the doctor's" Guide in Serbian

Once upon a time there was a person who said: "Hey, make an episode about going to the doctor's". Long time has past, but we managed to do it. Not only did we make a beginner episode about going to the doctor's in Serbian, but we actually made something different from what you heard before. Instead of a simple dialogue between Chris and me, now you can hear different role-play conversations. What are you actually going to learn here? After listening to the episode, you should be able to answer simple questions and follow simple instructions in a health centre.Of course, in the second part you will hear everything explained in English. Also, one of the changes we've made is that now you can get the transcipt of our conversation in Serbian for a small donation in Patreon. Exactly What I Needed

I’m an American woman engaged to a man who was raised in Serbia and I want to be able to speak to him in his first language. This is a very helpful podcast that covers enough to get me off to a great start. If there was a companion site that taught reading in both the Latin and Cyrillic alphabets, I would gladly pay for that additional education. I hope that is coming in the future. Hvala, and Thanks!

Not for beginners

I wouldn’t call this for beginners! They speak fast and don’t enunciate very well. If you’re intermediate, then great.

WONDERFUL

I am a huge fan of this podcast. I am an American with Serbian parents and grandparents who was raised in the United States. Ever since going off to university, my Serbian has progressively gotten worse. This podcast allows me to review my Serbian and has improved my language retention tremendously. Hvala!
