Talking AFLW will bring Swans fans up to date on the competition so far, provide some insights into the build of our team, and introduce fans to some of the key figures in the FIRST ever Sydney Swans women’s team.

    In our final episode of Talking AFLW, presented by Bing Lee, we chat with Lynn Ralph.

    In our inaugural season, former club director Lynn Ralph was given the honour of the inaugural Sydney Swans AFLW number one ticket holder in 2022.

    Ralph, the first woman to be appointed to the Sydney Swans Board, has been a strong advocate for women in football and the development of the code in NSW for more than two decades.

    Ralph was a Foundation Member of the AFL NSW/ACT Commission and has also played an instrumental role in founding L@SS (Ladies at Sydney Swans), the club’s official women’s supporter group.

    Episode 11 - Lexi and Cynthia Hamilton

    Episode 11 - Lexi and Cynthia Hamilton

    In episode eleven of Talking AFLW, presented by Bing Lee, we chat with sister duo Lexi and Cynthia Hamilton - a double act with more than a favourite footy club in common!

    18-year-old Cynthia played nine of a possible ten AFLW games in her debut season, that after being the club's third selection in the 2022 AFLW draft (pick 11 overall). Coming into the season, Cynthia was touted as one of the best current NSW/ACT talents and she proved why in her inaugural season. Cynthia capped off a whirlwind debut season to claim the inaugural Sydney Swans AFLW Club Champion award. Cynthia was a consistent performer for the Swans with her standout game in the final round of the season against Geelong which earned her a nomination for the AFLW Rising Star Award.

    22-year-old Lexi was described by Scott Gowans as a natural leader, playing all ten games this season. She arrived at the club having played three AFLW games with the Gold Coast Suns and North Melbourne. She tells us why, despite those great experiences, there is no happier place for her than here at the Swans.

    Episode 10 - Lauren Szigeti

    In episode ten of Talking AFLW, presented by Bing Lee, we chat with another one of our inaugural co-captains, Lauren Szigeti.

    Lauren played in the VFLW for the past three seasons, representing the Darebin Falcons before signing with Hawthorn ahead of season 2021. A versatile player, she was a key ball winner for the Hawks before signing with the Swans.

    Our host, Sam Lane, speaks with Lauren about her career off the field as a paramedic, her AFL journey to the Sydney Swans and becoming co-captain and the youngest member of the inaugural leadership group.

    In episode eight of Talking AFLW, presented by Bing Lee, we chat with our one of our inaugural co-captains, Maddy Collier.

    New South Wales home-grown talent Maddy Collier returned to her home state in 2022, bringing four seasons of experience in the AFLW competition, having played 34 games with GWS and the West Coast Eagles.

    Originally from Nowra on the south coast, we explore Collier's journey to becoming one of the Swans inaugural captains and find out a little more about her leadership philospohy in our latest episode of Talking AFLW.

    Episode 7 - Ruby Sargent-Wilson

    Episode 7 - Ruby Sargent-Wilson

    In episode seven of Talking AFLW, we chat with our inaugural signing Ruby Sargent-Wilson.

    Sargent-Wilson grew up in the Illawarra region on the south coast of New South Wales. She is a natural born athlete who represented NSW in touch football, netball and AFL in the same year. In just her fifth AFL game in 2018, she was voted best player at the School Sports Australia Championship. She went on to play for the Southern Power. She joined the QBE Sydney Swans Academy in 2021 and represented the Swans in the inaugural Under-19 series, an experience which she credits for preparing her to become a professional athlete. Earlier this year she made the move to the Gold Coast to study at Bond University on the prestigious Riewoldt AFL Excellence Scholarship before moving back to Sydney as she secured a place on the Swans list.
