How Improved Are The Buffalo Bills On Paper?

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, including taking a look at how much better, if at all the Buffalo Bills look on paper in 2026 compared to last year. Changes came big for the Bills after another playoff run that fell short of their goal of reaching a Super Bowl. Of course, the biggest change wasn't among the players but at head coach, as Sean McDermott got fired and Joe Brady promoted. Do the guys think that's an upgrade? It sure seems on paper the Bills improved with proven additions like DJ Moore, CJ Gardner Johnson and Bradley Chubb into the fold. They are, but there's other areas of the team where saying they improved isn't so cut and dry, such as offensive line and linebacker, not to mention a fair debate at cornerback. Also, Patrick presents Joe with four former Bills and asks which one he'd most like to have if that player could be back in his prime? That plus topics Joe brings up from his Substack column and much more. Make sure to check outJoe From Queen’s Substack page for his free weekly columns. What A Goalie Trade Market May Look Like For The Sabres

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by podcaster and blogger Chris Ostrander to discuss a handful of Buffalo Sabres season ending topics, including taking a look at what a potential goaltender trade market should look like should Jarmo Kekäläinen decide to try and swing a deal. Obviously this was a breakthrough season for the Sabres and the team looks poised to have a sustainable run at the Eastern conference in the coming years. However, the most uncertain aspect of the team arguably is goaltender despite having three guys all under contracts for next year: UPL, Alex Lyon and Colton Ellis in addition to Devon Levi in Rochester. Chris takes a look at a handful of goalies around the league at least worth discussing in some capacity for trades should their respective teams find a Buffalo package that would make it worth moving on from. They also discuss the Alex Tuch conundrum. Despite the woeful performance against Montreal Tuch's still a valued commodity and the Sabres will and should want him back. But at what price? Chris has thoughts on what he thinks Buffalo should do and where they should set the hard line at. The guys also discuss bonus bright spots that emerged from the Buffalo playoff run that were at least somewhat unexpected with Noah Ostlund and Konsta Helenius.  That plus what current Sabres could carry some value in the trade market and much more. Let's Play Buffalo Bills Fact Or Fiction

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation and among the topics is a game of Buffalo Bills fact or fiction---where Patrick reads off a bunch of Bills related statements and Matt explains if he thinks what Patrick's saying is fact or fiction. Keon Coleman will have a significant impact on the Bills offense.  DJ Moore will have at least 140 targets this season and speaking of, this is Dion Dawkins' last season with the Bills. James Cook will be top five in the league in rushing this year again last year after leading the league last season. This is the year Greg Rousseau finally breaks through with double digit sacks. Michael Hoecht will be active for the Bills in Week One. The Bills will win at least three of their first four games to start the season These are just some of the statements and predictions Matt's tasked with deciphering if they're fact or fiction. That plus thoughts on the Steelers and Aaron Rodgers getting together for another season, some teams that missed the playoffs that'll make it this time around, dealing with Sabres game seven loss depression and much more. Good, Bad & Ugly Of The Sabres Playoff Run

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over plenty of the good, bad and ugly from the Buffalo Sabres crushing game seven loss to Montreal, the series as a whole and entire Buffalo playoff run. Despite the heartbreaking loss that leaves Buffalo fans wondering if they could've went on to beat Carolina and get to the Stanley Cup, there's plenty of positives to take away. Patrick highlights how the Montreal series and entire playoffs felt like a coming out party for emerging stars like Zach Benson, Josh Doan and Owen Power. Also, Rasmus Dahlin showed why he's a Norris Trophy finalist. On the other side, you can't help but be convinced the Sabres probably win the Montreal series easily if they got more from Tage Thompson and literally anything from Alex Tuch. Plus, why did the Sabres struggle so bad at home against Montreal and Boston? That plus keeping the Sabres season in perspective, expectations grow for the future now and much more. Sabres Stars Fall Short As Season Ends In OT (LIVE Reaction)

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Steve Bermel immediately after the conclusion of the Buffalo Sabres losing in overtime in game seven against the Montreal Canadiens, 3-2 to be eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Sabres fell into a 2-0 hole in the first period before dominating the next two periods to tie the game with many chances to win. However, as was all the home games this series they couldn't get anything from Tage Thompson or Alex Tuch and it hurt them again. The guys talk about that, the Sabres finishing the playoffs just 2-5 at home, UPL playing strong but letting in a goal you gotta make a save on and tons more. They also talk about what the future may hold for the Sabres. Did this series close the door on Tuch getting a big contract to stay in Buffalo? Will goaltending be their top offseason priority? That and much more is discussed. Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. What We've Been Most Wrong About With Buffalo Sports

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss a variety of topics, including some of things they've historically been most wrong about when it comes to Buffalo sports. Buffalo Sabres goaltender Alex Lyon simply wasn't up for the task this past Saturday night, giving up three goals on literally three shots as the Sabres fell into a 3-1 hole at Montreal with the season on the brink. Between Lyon getting yanked, UPL being a disaster the game before, Sabres star players struggling and the game being played in front of a frenzied Montreal crowd that could taste blood, Patrick absolutely declared to anyone within shouting distance of him that the Sabres season was over. Obviously, he was dead wrong as the Sabres stormed back with SEVEN unanswered goals to win 8-3 and set up a game seven. It got Patrick thinking about some of the things he or we've all been most wrong about when it comes to Buffalo sports. Among the topics discussed with Joe is the disapproval of Josh Allen being selected ahead of Josh Rosen for the Bills in 2018, thinking Rex Ryan was going to make the Bills Super Bowl contenders, tanking for McEichel (controversial subject) and of course, thinking the Bills two year Super Bowl run ended when they fell down to Houston, 35-3 in the playoffs. Of course, there's plenty of talks about the Sabres storming back to force Monday night's game seven and what they think of Buffalo's chances. That plus their future looks bright, the Bills radio broadcasts are going to 97 Rock and plenty more. Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Sabres On Brink Following Pathetic Loss, Plus Bills Schedule Drops (LIVE Reaction)

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Steve Bermel for instant live reaction to game five as the Buffalo Sabres blew multiple early leads in losing (badly) to Montreal that has them on the brink of elimination, in addition to official release of the NFL/Buffalo Bills 2026 regular season schedule. The Sabres scored three times in their home arena in the first period, yet went into the locker room down two goals after 40 minutes. Any chance of a comeback ended shortly into the third after a Rasmus Dahlin penalty led to Montreal's sixth goal. To call it all an implosion is accurate if not an understatement. The guys have a ton of of takes and spoiler alert----- optimistic Sabres fans probably won't like it. Meanwhile, the guys pour over a lot of the bigger details from the 2026 schedule unveiling. The Bills have six (!) prime time games this season including Thanksgiving night, and that's not including a late afternoon showdown on the road at Denver on Christmas day. To say for better or worse the Bills will be in the national spotlight a lot this season is an understatement. The guys go over what they like and disliked the most about the looks of the Bills schedule, which ranges from the perfect opponent to be playing coming off their bye (Baltimore), to three straigh home games against good, an expected brutally hard five game stretch late in the season to two extremely winnable games at the end should the Bills absolutely need to have them. That and plenty more. Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. Unsolved Mysteries Of The Buffalo Bills

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss some of the biggest unsolved mysteries of the Buffalo Bills as they get ready for training camp pretty soon. Teams around the league have plenty of question marks and underdetermined things that will play out through the course of the summer before the regular season starts in September and the Bills are no exception. The guys discuss some of them including what the defensive tackle position will look in turns of personnel and the depth chart, does the organization like young veteran linebacker Joe Andreesssen more than we think---a reason why they didn't do anything too major in addressing the position. Also, the starters in the secondary seem set but if the unit can remain healthy this summer, who has the best chance of getting snaps as the dime defensive back in some packages? On the offensive side of the ball, what's the pecking order between Josh Palmer, Keon Coleman and Skyler Bell going to be? Are we going to see a legit starting left guard battle at camp? Is Dalton Kincaid quietly in line for his breakout season? Will an undrafted free agent make the 53-man roster? What will Joe Brady's team and coaching routine look like at camp? Also, Matt has thoughts on the Bills opening up Highmark Stadium on Thursday Night Football, the signing of edge rusher Mike Danna this week and plenty more.
