    Southern Regional Manager from Australian Tyre Traders Geelong, Vic has more than 20 years of experience working in the tyre industry around Australia in retail, wholesale and original equipment. In this episode, we chat with Matt about optimizing tyre management in controlled traffic farming systems, including choosing the right tyres, optimizing pressure, minimising wheel rutting, and planning tyre management. Australian Tyre Traders is a national wholesale tyre business specialising in tuck, bus and agricultural tyre ranges for Australian conditions.     Episode 12 Dr Jeff Tullberg. Brisbane and Chris Bluett, Ballarat – Opportunities for controlled traffic farming in the low rainfall zone of south eastern Australia.

    In this episode, we talk to Dr Jeff Tullberg and Dr Chris Bluett about the results of a five-year project titled “Application of CTF in the Low Rainfall Zone (LRZ)” funded by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and co-funded by participating partners. Jeff is an Australian agricultural engineer with broad experience in research, teaching, extension and consulting on technical and economic aspects of farm machinery and its impact on soil, cropping systems and the environment. Chris is an agriculturist with broad experience in grain crop agronomy and farming systems, primarily in the High Rainfall Zone of Southern Victoria. His work includes new crop development ie canola, raised bed farming and controlled traffic farming.     Episode 11 Dr Jeff Tullberg. Brisbane and Chris Bluett, Ballarat – The reduction in nitrous oxide emissions from controlled traffic farming

    Research has shown that nitrous oxide emissions were, on average, 2.2 times greater on wheeled soil compared to unwheeled zones in controlled traffic farming around Australia. In this episode, we chat with ACTFA board members Dr Jeff Tullberg and Dr Chris Bluett about the results of a project funded by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources investigating the potential for controlled traffic farming to reduce nitrous oxide emissions. The project was part of its Carbon Farming Futures Action on the Ground Program (AOTGR2-62:Nitrous oxide emission reductions from controlled traffic farming Jeff is an Australian agricultural engineer with broad experience in research, teaching, extension and consulting on technical and economic aspects of farm machinery and its impact on soil, cropping systems and the environment. Chris is an agriculturist with broad experience in grain crop agronomy and farming systems, primarily in the High Rainfall Zone of Southern Victoria.     Episode 8 Tim Rethus, Farmer Horsham Vic – long-term controlled traffic farming grain and hay production

    Tim Rethus is a farmer from Horsham whose family business Rethus Broadacre has run a controlled traffic farming system for more than 20 years. Tim shares with us their machinery configuration, the benefits, and the challenges of CTF. Rethus is one of the few farms in Australia that produce hay with equipment matched to their 12m CTF system so that all hay operations run on the wheel tracks.     Episode 6 Ben Beech -Grower from the Frankland River in the Great Southern of Western Australia discusses his CTF system.

    Ben Beech Farms on a mixed sheep and cropping enterprise located in Frankland River down in the Great Southern of WA. Which is located northwest of Albany. Ben is a relative newcomer to CTF and in this episode he tells us about the transition to CTF and the challenges he faced.     Episode 5 Luke Clark, A farmer from Jamestown South Australia talks about his CTF Journey.

    Luke Clark is a partner in a family farming business at Jamestown, in the Mid-North of South Australia. Their cropping enterprise is a full CTF zero till operation, retaining 100% of stubble to achieve constant ground coverage. There is a separate enterprise of a self-replacing merino flock. Luke has also worked as a broad acre cropping agronomist. He learns a great deal from other like-minded farmers, and fits it all to their environment, using his degree as he puts it from the “You-tube Uni” and his master's from the “Google Institute of Time-wasting. In this episode Luke tells us how he got started in farming and made the transition to CTF. Luke also offers some insights into setting up a CTF system and the benefits that CTF has bought to his family farming enterprise.     Episode 3 Bindi Isbister Chair of ACTFA and Soil Scienitist talks CTF and Soil Amelioration

    Bindi is an Environmental Scientist with more than 20 years’ experience in agricultural research and extension. She grew up on a mixed farm in Kojonup, Western Australia where her Dad passed on his passion for sustainable agriculture. Bindi works two days a week for Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) WA as a Research Scientist on soil amelioration projects. She also works part-time for Agrarian Management as a Precision Agriculture Consultant. Bindi has developed extensive knowledge of controlled traffic farming and precision agriculture working on state and national projects. This includes writing the NACC Controlled Traffic Farming Technical Manual in 2013 that is a revised version of the original Tramline Farming Manual she wrote in 2003.
