Creepy Cars at Reno's National Automobile Museum

In a bit of a slight departure from the paranormal, this week Aaron takes a drive through history (thanks to the support of the Reno-Tahoe Territory). Phil MacDougall, president of the National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada, joins the show to discuss the landmark's 240 cars, their history, and some of the spooky stories connected to them. From cars owned by Elvis and Frank Sinatra, to a potentially haunted car that once belonged to James Dean, the stories of the National Automobile Museum cover a lot of ground.
The 105,000 square foot National Automobile Museum's collection of 240 cars began with casino owner Bill Harrah, and continued after his death. Opened in 1989, the site was reported to have set the standard for automobile museums around the world. Since then, it has received many accolades and today it is recognized as one of 10 Best Automobile Museums in the U.S. Big thanks to the Reno-Tahoe Territory for the support in arranging this interview.

Victorian Spiritualism with Steele Alexandra Douris

Victorian Spiritualism with Steele Alexandra Douris

Who were the Victorians, why were they so fascinated with the paranormal, and how are they continuing to influence our notions of the unexplained?
Séances, paranormal investigations, fortune telling, and other spiritualist practices helped define the Victorian era and continue to shape our world today. In the time of Jack the Ripper, A Christmas Carol, Dracula, and Edgar Allan Poe, spiritualism and the supernatural were cultural touchpoints. In the book Spirits, Seers & Séances: Victorian Spiritualism, Magic, & the Supernatural, author Steele Alexandra Douris explores how Victorians, and spiritualists have left such a profound impact on both the past and present — and how belief in ghosts, fairies, and nature spirits shaped our celebrations for All Hallows’ Eve and Christmas
    More about the Author:
Steele Alexandra Douris is an author, artist, and Victorianist, specializing in Victorian spiritualism, crime fiction, and the gothic novel. She is a PhD candidate in the English department at Stanford University, where she has taught courses on 19th century spiritualism and ghost stories. She holds an MA in English from Stanford University and a BA in anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin.

Destroy All Neighbors: Alex Winter & Jonah Ray Rodrigues

Destroy All Neighbors: Alex Winter & Jonah Ray Rodrigues

In the new film Destroy All Neighbors, starring Alex Winter (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure) and Jonah Ray Rodrigues (Mystery Science Theater 3000), a self-absorbed prog-rock musician runs afoul of his new neighbor which leads to a lot of undead corpses and becomes a "twisted splatter-comedy about a deranged journey of self-discovery."
Directed by Josh Forbes and written by Jared Logan, Charles Pieper and Mike Benner with Winter and Rodrigues producing as well as starring, Destroy All Neighbors — debuting on the Shudder streaming service January 12 — tells the story of William Brown (Jonah Ray Rodrigues), a neurotic, self-absorbed musician determined to finish his prog-rock magnum opus. He faces a creative roadblock in the form of a noisy and grotesque neighbor named Vlad (Alex Winter). Finally working up the nerve to demand that Vlad keep it down, William inadvertently decapitates him. But, while attempting to cover up one murder, William’s accidental reign of terror causes victims to pile up and become undead corpses who torment and create more bloody detours on his road to prog-rock Valhalla. Destroy All Neighbors is a twisted splatter-comedy about a deranged journey of self-discovery full of goopy practical FX, a well-known ensemble cast, and LOTS of blood.

Listener Stories: Creepy Phantom Kids & Blue Lights in the Sky

We are back for a new season, and for a new year. To kick off 2024, Aaron Sagers reads some listener submitted tales he has been gathering. Although purely unintentional, this randomly selected collection of stories has a theme of creepy kids, as well as some strange lights in the sky. Listen in, and share what you think about these encounters.
And remember: To submit your own stories of the unusual, email TalkingStrange@DenOfGeek.com to be read on a future episode. If you'd like to record the story yourself, send it along and we may play it!

Colleen all weirdos ,

A fun dive into weird waters!

Host Aaron Sagers is a true prince of paranormal pop culture. This pod takes you on a journey to weird, spooky, and spacey places you didn’t even know you were dying to visit. It’s for all ages, but GenXers, in particular, will love Aaron’s humor and cultural references. I’m a big fan!

Spinoff boy ,

Informative, fun, great host

Love the range of paranormal and paranormal-adjacent topics, and the mix of recognizable celeb guests along with paranormal personalities, authors, and researchers. They also make an effort to talk to underrepresented communities. Aaron has a ton of paranormal tv hosting experience, which is a strength and he doesn’t make it about himself

Ashleytheginger ,

Pop culture and paranormal fun times!

Always enjoy listening to Aaron whether he is talking to people who make art and entertainment or chatting about some abstract paranormal experiences. He makes it fun and intriguing!
