Tanglaw Connect Ep 10 - The Home She Prayed For

We meet Josephine Caldona, an Overseas Filipino Worker whose journey has taken her across different countries in search of work and a better future. Like many OFWs, Josephine learned to be strong and independent while living far from the Philippines. But behind her courage was a deeply personal dream: to find a place she could truly call home and, most importantly, to be reunited with her daughter. As a single mother, Josephine carried the weight of providing for her family while navigating life and work in different countries. The journey was not always easy, but she continued to move forward, holding on to the hope that one day she would no longer have to choose between earning a living and being with the daughter she loves. It was in Aotearoa New Zealand that Josephine found the opportunity she had long hoped for. New Zealand became more than another country where she could work. It became a place where she could build a life, reunite with her daughter, and finally experience the sense of home she had been searching for. Join Glady Mabini as Josephine shares a deeply personal story of motherhood, sacrifice, courage, perseverance, and faith. A story of a woman who journeyed through different places, carried many responsibilities, and never stopped hoping for the day when she could finally say, “I am home.” Tanglaw Connect celebrates resilience, faith, and the Filipino spirit while fostering connection, belonging, and encouragement for listeners wherever they may be.

Tanglaw Connect Ep 8 - When No One Said Yes

We sit down with Nelma Salondaguit-Gibson, a professional massage therapist whose inspiring journey proves that setbacks can become the beginning of something even greater. Before moving to Aotearoa New Zealand, Nelma had already built a successful career in the Middle East, earning the trust of a loyal clientele through her skill, professionalism, and genuine care for her clients. But after marrying a Kiwi and relocating to New Zealand, she found herself facing an unexpected challenge. Despite her experience and qualifications, one job application after another was met with rejection. Rather than allowing disappointment to define her, Nelma chose to rethink her approach. She realized that success wasn't only about having the right skills- it was also about learning how to market herself, build relationships, and let the quality of her work speak for itself. Today, Nelma owns her own massage spa, where much of her growing clientele comes through word-of-mouth recommendations- a testament to the trust she has earned and the excellence she consistently delivers. Join us as Nelma shares a heartfelt story of resilience, entrepreneurship, and the courage to create opportunities when none seem to exist. Her journey is a reminder that sometimes, the best opportunities are not given—they are built.
