Armed with a dream and determination, Garry arrived on a Study Visa to pursue a PhD in Chemical Education at the University of Waikato through the university's Doctoral Scholarship Program, while Rio joined him on a partnership-based Open Work Visa. From the challenges of starting over in a new country to navigating life during a global pandemic, Garry and Rio share the lessons, sacrifices, opportunities, and milestones that shaped their migrant journey. Today, they are proud Permanent Residents of New Zealand and have built a life they once only dreamed of.
