This is Janis Kristiansen, news junkie, and fan of politics, government, & American history. In this podcast I, along with future guests, will be discussing the tangled angles of conservative American values given to us by the Constitution, while using facts and keeping it classy.*Why a podcast? My husband served in the WA State House of Representatives for 16 years, and during that time I had a front row seat to state government and American politics. So come listen in to my insider's view of what I saw and what I learned in government and politics, from a woman who is old enough to have something to say and young enough to still want to.

Red States vs. Blue States & the Mass Migration during Covid

Red States vs. Blue States & the Mass Migration during Covid

Red states vs. Blue states: Who’s Winning?
    Red states have:
    Conservative approach to government
    Low taxes
    Tough on crime
Mass migration is to the red states and leaving the blue states.
    Small government
Job growth for the private sector.
    Safer big cities
    Prospering and economically doing well
    Homelessness is dealt with
    Blue states have:
Liberal left- progressive approach to government
    Big gov
    Mandatory union membership
High taxes, property, B & O tax, tax on the gross receipts of a business, not on it’s profit.
    Many bureaucratic regulations
Job shrinkage in the private sector
High crime and murder rates in their cities
Seattle allowed the autonomous zone in the middle of the city…the first time in American history.
    Plague of homelessness & crime
Economically in meltdown and financially suffering
It’s hard to measure the mass migration that took place in 2020 and so far in 2021. Most accurate data comes from moving companies.
Key Takeaways from the 2020 Migration Report
People are fleeing California for Texas and IdahoThe top five inbound states in 2020 are Idaho, Arizona, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina, with Tennessee overtaking South Carolina from the 2019 results.Guns:
According to Guns & Ammo, it’s latest ranking  shows Idaho holding the number 2 spot for the most gun-friendly state in the nation, right behind Arizona. Washington ranked 38th on the list. Here are the top 5 states with the highest rates of gun ownership:
    Montana (66.30%)Wyoming (66.20%)Alaska (64.50%)Idaho (60.10%)West Virginia (58.50%)IN WA,
    42% of citizens own guns.
WA and Idaho right next door to each other, so it's a good comparison.
Idaho has a crime rate of  14% per 1000. Idaho the state with the third-lowest crime rate.
WA: 29% per 1000 residents is the violent and property crime rate.
Things you can’t measure by data or statistically, but are just felt:
In the Blue states: There is a heaviness, people look ragged, people are stressed & living in fear. There is a hesitancy to greet people in public, & an avoidance of others in a grocery store isle.
    We’ve lost community, comriaderie, friendliness.
In Idaho. …things not measurable by data....
People are happy, restaurants are full, people don’t look harassed,  & the malls are busy.
Huge difference of right over the border, if it was about a virus, then it wouldn’t be so different. If it was about a sickness, there would be uniformity of approach to the virus.
Each person’s health is up to the individual, and as I said in my earlier podcast # 16, when I talked about the 4 levels of government, the individual is responsible of their own health. It’s not the government’s job to monitor my health, tell me what to do with my body, and monitor it, where to work, what to eat, where to go and give me advice about our health.
But their are two issues going on here.
One is how to keep healthy, and the other is about preserving our freedoms and liberties as a republic under the Constitution.
Obviously a political difference. If it was about a virus, why is the southern border open?

Why Study History? Because It Is Your Future.

Why Study History? Because It Is Your Future.

Why Study History? Because It’s Your Future
The tagline in my podcast says… I’m now sharing and discussing what “I’ve learned and experienced along with some historical context of where we are on the timeline of history”.
Knowing history is knowing where you are. History is the map, history is the navigation system. History is the basis from which all decisions are made.
Edmund Burke (1729-1797) “Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it.”
The other key to knowledge and life that I learned is the further back that someone knows history the better off they will be.
In an earlier podcast, #11, “Where do you get your news? How do you know it’s the truth?” I talk about how to decipher the news of today. And so many people in America today only know the history, the very short history of their personal lives. Many people walking around today have a very short time span of historical knowledge.
Tyranny is the default, Tyranny is the natural state of most nations in the world today. Slavery, oppression, tyranny, and serving a dictatorial form of government is the norm in the world today.
The United States of America is the most free, most prosperous, most liberating country in the history of the world. And we are dangerously close to losing it .
A few people in the last couple of weeks have called us and said “Where are we going?”
“What do you think all these events will lead to?”
    They also say:
“I don’t get it!”  What is happening? Why is our nation unraveling so fast. For those of us who know history, this is no surprise.
As I said in my earlier podcast, #2, “Was this your wake up year?” That this stuff has been going on for hundreds of years, the rule by tyrants, and we as a nation started walking away from the Constitution in the early 1900’s with Woodrow Wilson as president and with President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1930’s and the New Deal. It’s just your turn to wake up and realize it.
So many are asking “where do you think our nation is going?”
Of course nobody knows exactly where it's going but we have a few educated guesses is where it's going.
A lot of what we've told them where it's going as we've just told them history.
If you want to know where our nation is going the best answer to that question we've been asked is to study history.
It’s because we are the sum total of our history. We as a nation have been separated from our history, and the public school system in America has worked very hard since about the 1960’s and the sexual revolution to erase from the minds of American’s our history, and since that time accurate American history has not been taught in the public school system.

Black Lives Matter, Critical Race Theory (CRT) and re-writing history are a few ways the left is trying to erase our history.

Teaching United States history with regard to our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the founding fathers and who they were is necessary for us as Americans so we can know accurate history, and what is in store for us in the future.

Part 2- Four Levels of Government, Why America is So Messed Up, and What We Can Do About It

Part 2- Four Levels of Government, Why America is So Messed Up, and What We Can Do About It

    Four types of government:
self, the family, the church, civil government. The first 3 forms of government must be healthy, intact, and functioning well for the 4th form of government in a free republic under a constitution to function well.
If the first 3 are battered, bruised, broken and dysfunctional, the fourth form of government will surely fall from within.
    1. The first type of government is the government of self.
We have relationships, handle our own health, work to earn a living, and solve the problems we have ourselves within the context of our family & friendships.
    2. The second form of government described in the Bible is the family.  In this type of government is a small unit consisting of a husband and a wife, and often children.
The family is the basis of any well-functioning society, and it is the form of government on which the world rests. And the foundation of a family is love.
    3. The third form of government is the church.
Church is the collective, nation-wide Bible believing churches across America, which have their roots and foundation in Scripture, regardless of denomination or form.
    Church areas of jurisdiction:
The basis of faith must be in something greater than ourselves. It’s here where the big questions of life are answered, who are we? Why were we born? What plan does God have for me? Does my life have value? God answers these questions for each individual in a complete and wonderful way, and it’s in our faith in God that we see who we are, and why he made us.
Financial:Here we learn the best and most prosperous method on how to handle money. Marriage—Why is biblical marriage under such attack today in the world and in our country? it's because marriage is the metaphor,  the earthly picture, of the relationship that Jesus has with the church. The Bible calls Jesus the bride groom and his church the bride and one of the marriage classes went into this in depth about how Jesus loves the church cares for the church feeds her provides for her protects her loves her eventually dies for her and is raised again on the third day for herParenting-Parenting is addressed in the Bible, and so many of the practical how twos and ideas we learned at church.Friendships: True friendships are found and built on our faith, and this type of friendship is not based on economic or social status.  4. The fourth area of government is civil.  This is the form of government of a group of people that share a common geography that is supposed to keep order in society as a whole, protecting those who abide by the law of the land and punishing those who are law breakers.
Civil government is necessary for the order of society, to avoid anarchy and chaos.  And civil government is defined and maintained by its geographical boundaries and borders.

Part I- Four Levels of Government, Why America is So Messed Up, & What We Can Do About It

Part I- Four Levels of Government, Why America is So Messed Up, & What We Can Do About It

The 4 levels of government are meant to be executed and carried out well, in order to have a stable & prosperous country.
But America is in trouble. In this podcast, Part I of II, the 4 levels of government are defined and discussed which are:
     *The government of the self
*The government of marriage between one man and one woman, which is the family & often includes children
*The government of the Judeo-Christian church
*Civil government.…the government of a group of people who share a common geography.
Why is our nation in such trouble, and our federal government is just about shipwrecked?
It is because the first three forms of government are so battered, broken, bruised, and messed up.  By the time the fourth form of government is supposed to govern- the civil government,  it’s so crippled because the foundation of the first three that our civil government rests on are not functioning properly.

Civil government can never solve the problems of the lack of government at the individual, family, and church levels.
    What we can do?
    Mother Teresa said:
“If you want to bring peace to the whole world, go home and love your family.”- Mother Teresa, the famous Catholic nun who worked in the slums of Calcutta, India for decades.
This is the heart of what the Bible teaches, and she is addressing the first and second forms of goverment, the individual and the family. This is the foundation in which a country rests.
The world works to destroy these God given forms of government……
It’s why China had a one-child policy for years……to destroy the family.
It’s one reason why abortion is hailed and funded in America……to destroy the family.
It’s why no fault divorce was passed into law in our country …….to destroy the family.
Mothers and fathers need to take the responsibility to educate our own children, and oversee with diligence their education.
Marriage between one man and one woman needs to respected and honored. No other set up will produce emotionally, mentally, and spiritually healthy  individuals and children.

Honor, respect, and submitting our lives to the loving and good God who made us needs to characterize our lives if we want a stable nation.
The next step is to step out of our homes and get involved in our communities. Like I say every podcast, attend school board meetings, support conservative and law abiding candidates who are running for the water district, fire district, municipal court, Public utility district, sheriff, school board, city Council, county council, and state legislature whose values you respect and want to see in your community. If there's no one on the ballot doing this, put your name on the ballot and run for these positions.
Other ideas: Have a neighborhood meeting and get to know your neighbors. Put together a neighborhood watch group, and invite local law enforcement to the meeting and let them know you support them and are on their team. Help them by being a caring citizen in your community, making their job easier.
    Is there hope?
Yes, as the Bible clearly says that God is a father to the fatherless, and is near to the broken hearted. He has outlined the best forms of government for any nation, if they will follow it, and as our country started to do in 1776, and amazingly America still exists today, 245 years later. We must work to sustain and preserve it.

Gaslighting & Other Strategies of The Left, And What To Do About It

Gaslighting & Other Strategies of The Left, And What To Do About It

    What is gaslighting?
Gasligting is a form of psychological control to get someone to believe what is false by constantly feeding them lies, distortions of the truth, and to get them to eventually doubt their memory or their sanity.
Over time, if someone falls victim to this, they end up questioning their own sanity and believing they are the one who is crazy, not the person who is gaslighting them.
What are the goals of gaslighting?
It’s goal is to cause confusion, bring a lack of clarity, muddy the waters in someone else’s thinking, to get them to question their own values and morals, and to get them to change their minds and make different decisions away from the truth, and away from what is true, right, and good.
Gaslighting is employed so those on the left can get away with deception, lies, and to sway public opinion to accomplish goals that are less than honest, and the ultimate goal is the gaslights want control over people.
We’ve seen this gaslighting play out a lot over the last year and a half through the covid ordeal that we’ve been through as a nation.
One example is last summer, the summer of 2020, leading up to the election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, was the Antifa riots, fires , looting and burning of many major cities in our nation, and right here in Seattle.  The left has destroyed many cities, crime, murder, and drug usage is at an all time high in these cities, and the left who controls these cities does nothing about it.
But on Jan. 6th when people rushed the capitol building and one police officer was shot, the left has gone into hysterics over this event, and some of these non-violent protestors are still in solitary confinement awaiting a trial 7 months later.
And the mainstream press has been gas lighting us all year, trying to get us to believe that what happened at the capital on Jan. 6th somehow is far more serious and threatening to our republic than what happened for months and months in the summer of 2020 in our major cities leading up to the Nov. 2020 election.
They are trying to get us to believe that somehow what we saw all last summer is not that big a deal compared to Jan. 6th, so they can carry out their socialist, Marxist goals that they have for the United States of America.
They are blowing smoke in our faces, and trying to tell us on the right that we are the crazy ones, we are the ones not seeing reality clearly, we are the ones who have misunderstood what has happened, we are the ones who are mistaken and misinformed.
They are trying to get us to believe something that is not the truth, by the constant drumbeat of their lies, to get us to wear down, question our own sanity, make us feel like we are the cray ones, so we will be discuraged, give up, go home, and be quiet.. This is the goal of gaslighting, so the gaslighters can have all of the control.
What’s the solution? Be prepared for the gaslighters, who will quickly tear into you, to knock you off balance, get control of the discussion, and cause the people who are telling the truth to get discouraged, give up the fight, be quiet and go home.
Do not answer them. Completely ignore their gaslighting, and tell the truth, list the facts, and tell them that you will not be labeled with their false accusations.
State the truth, list your goals, comments, and responses with clarity, and do not even answer the accusations, but spend time stating who they really are, what their agenda is, and expose the truth of what has really happened, and what they plan on trying to to to our nation, tearing it down one lie at a time.

    Independence Day!
This 4th of July, we will celebrate 245 years since 56 brave men signed the Declaration of Independence, outlining why the 13 colonies wanted independence from Great Britain and the British Crown.
The document was drafted by a committee made up of John Adams (40 years old), Benjamin Franklin (70) , Thomas Jefferson (32) , Roger Sherman (54) , and Robert Livingston. Jefferson, recognized for his ability with words, wrote the first draft; then it was edited by the others, and then edited again by the whole Congress.
King George III of Great Britain was 37 yrs old and had been king for 15 years when he went before Parliament in England in late 1775 and declared the American colonies in rebellion and stated his determination to bring them into submission to his ruling power.
By the time Jefferson sat down to pen his draft in 1776, a series of events had driven a wedge between Great Britain and its 13 colonies across the Atlantic.
On July 4, 1776 Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence. As Benjamin Franklin said, “We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately.”
The commander-in-chief of the army George Washington, was 43 years old.
Benjamin Franklin. was 70 years old.
John Hancock who was president of the continental congress… he was 39.
    John Adams was 40 (1735-1826) .
    Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) was 33.
Brigadier General Nathaniel Greene, was 33 years old, the youngest brigadier general in the Continental Army. He was very close to George WA, and played a large part in the strategy of the war.
James Madison (1751-1836) was 24 years old. He composed the first drafts of the US Constitution, called the Articles of Confederation, which were ratified in 1781, The year Madison turned 30 years old, he earned the nickname “Father of the Constitution”.
Alexander Hamilton at the time of the signing was 20 years old. He did not sign the D. Of I. But 1774–75, he wrote three influential pamphlets, which upheld some of the key agreements of the Continental Congress. Those anonymous publications—part of the Federalist papers, he wrote when he was 19 and 20 years old.
In March 1776, through the influence of friends in the New York legislature, Hamilton was commissioned a captain in the provincial artillery. He organized his own company and at the Battle of Trenton, and at this time was 21 years old.
John Adams wrote to his wife, Abigail, and explained how he felt the new found freedom should be celebrated:
"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."
