    37. Have a Conversation with Yourself - with Summan Kandola

It was an honour to sit down with Summan Kandola. She is a transformation coach, producer/director, mindfulness advocate, and content creator who passionately navigates what she calls “the space between who you were and who you're becoming.” Her work reflects an honest, grounded, and deeply transformational approach to personal growth. In her powerful CBC Gem documentary Identity of Wellness, Summan examines how colonization and capitalism shape the wellness industry, and how that impacts BIPOC communities. The film, released in 2022, invites reflection on inclusion in spaces like yoga, meditation, self-care, and challenges mainstream notions of “white wellness”. She also hosts Monday Motivation, a series on the CBC Creator Network where she highlights everyday individuals who show incredible resilience and champion mindsets; sharing stories of joy found after immense pain. My conversation with Summan was exactly that; a conversation in every sense of the word. In this episode, she shares mini-tools that sparked her own mindfulness journey and a grounded, precise approach to navigating life when the proverbial going gets tough. We talk about people-pleasing tendencies, cultural background, the tug-of-war between community and individualism, supporting our communities, starting a business (the hard questions, the consistency it demands), and the value of storytelling. Summan is a true coach and a brilliant young mind. I am beyond honoured to have had this conversation and to launch a new season of the podcast with her. You can find Summan on Instagram @coachwithsummankandola and @iamsummankandola  and on her websites https://summankandola.myflodesk.com/qfhmuuu04t and https://www.selfhired.com/  Don't forget to hit that share button, leave your comments, and join the discussion!
