    This is episode 18 of our podcast series which has been running for two years. Our summer special features four esteemed guests from the Edinburgh Futures Institute, as they talk about their particular approach to hybrid teaching and learning. The aim of the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) is to pursue knowledge and understanding that supports the navigation of complex futures. EFI’s distinctiveness stems from their approach to research, education and engagement, a method that combines multi-disciplinarity with co-production.

    Dom, Ivan and James are joined by Professor Sian Bayne, Director, Centre for Research in Digital Education and Director of Education, Edinburgh Futures Institute. Alongside her is Emma McAllister, EFI Learning Technology & Design Lead, The University of Edinburgh, Dr James Lamb, the Joint programme director of the MSc in Education Futures also at Edinburgh University and Martin Hawksey, who previously worked at the EFI and now Creator, Content Producer and Community Advocate.

    This is episode 15 of our podcast series features a European-centred conversation with Paraskevi Dilaveri, or Evi as we know her, the Coordinator of the Bachelors Writing Program at The American College of Greece in Athens, where she also teaches academic writing and research skills. Our second guest is Jelle Scheurleer is the course director radiotherapy modules of the master program in Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology at Inholland University of Applied Sciences, in Haarlem, NL.

    Our guests discuss their experiences of hybrid teaching before, during and since the pandemic. Evi and Jelle talk about their challenges and the realities for students, how hybrid teaching should be approached, as well as the impact of hybrid on their students' sense of inclusivity and the practical implications for two different but hands-on courses, as well as the importance of the campus experience.

He is Associate Professor of Instructional Technologies in the Department of Equity, Leadership Studies and Instructional Technologies at San Francisco State University. At SFSU, Brian pioneered the development and evaluation of the HyFlex course design model for blended learning environments, implementing a “student-directed-hybrid” approach to better support student learning.

    In this in-depth conversation, Dom Pates, James Rutherford and Dr. Ivan Sikora, heard from Brian about his early experiences and development of hybrid teaching as well as his views on the future of teaching in a live hybrid or Hyflex mode.
