The ultimate defence against ransomware attacks. When immutable is still fallible

In this episode of the Tech Means Business podcast we talk about immutable backups with Object First's Anthony Cusimano and Andy French.  When ransomware, internal threat or natural disaster strike, the backups every organisation takes (or should take) are among the first targets. If the goal of bad actors is to force a business offline, and backups are malleable and available, it can take weeks to bring systems back online.  We talk about how many of the backups we think of as immutable are not immutable at all, and how the speed of getting systems back online can make a significant difference to any business that values its digital assets. Anthony, Andy, and Joe discuss backup methods, networked storage, and ensuring backup and recovery systems are as easy as possible to use.  There's also consideration given to stress suffered by IT pros tasked with disaster recovery, and how Object First uses penetration testing companies to verify that if or when the worst happens, restoring critical data is safe, fast, and reliable.  You can read more about Object First on its website here: https://objectfirst.com/. Why Immutability Matters: A Deep Dive with Object First

In this first episode of the new series of the Tech Means Business podcast, TechForge's Joe Green talks with Anthony Cusimano, the Chief Evangelist and Director of Solutions Marketing at ObjectFirst. ObjectFirst are in the business of immutable backup and recovery – the storage and retrieval of data that simply can't be touched by the bad guys when (not if) an organisation's defences are breached. It offers a range of hardware devices in a…memorable…colour scheme that plug-and-play alongside an existing backup solutions. Anthony talks to Joe about all things backup, air-gapping, tape, ransomware insurance, and the business of keeping the show on the road even when the worst happens. It's music to the ears of the systems administrator whose job is on the line when disaster strikes, and sobering listening for anyone organisation that values its data and plans for business continuity. For companies of any size that absolutely, positively, have to keep going in the event of significant cyber incursion or natural disaster, ObjectFirst represents the simplest and safest way to get there. You can read more about ObjectFirst on the company's website and connect with Anthony on LinkedIn. Music for the Tech Means Business podcast's intro and outro is Don't Turn Your Back, by TNBT, used by the kind permission of the artist.
