    #2 Dr. Yogananth Andiappan | Yoga Master from India

    I had the very special opportunity to speak to Dr. Yogananth Andiappan, a true Yoga Guru from India, that started his life long dedication to Yoga at soon as he was born. His father and mother were full time Yoga Researcher, Instructor and Practitioner with the goal of bringing yoga to as many people as possible, from the therapeutic perspective. He inherited the family tradition and spent decades building his practice from India to Hong Kong and now reaching a massive global audience. His yoga school has a line-up of all Indian instructors not only helping people practice yoga but also focus on training yoga teachers with his only philosophy. He even created a NGO through which he pays for volunteers that want to become instructors to help out special needs groups that cannot afford yoga classes. Yogananth is currently working on a book with his two sons to bring a new perspective of how kids can get into yoga at a young age. Before this interview, I sat through a 60-minute class with him and 40 students and yoga instructors in training and felt the distinctive difference between any other yoga classes I have taken. As much as yoga is portrayed as achieving all the fancy poses in social media, he teaches the world the mindset of yoga. It is the constant battling with one's body to slowly achieving those poses over time that one's mind is trained to overcome the biggest obstacles lying in front of us.
