On April 28th, 2021 the mummified corpse of a woman found in a Crestone Colorado home was reported to the Salida Police Department. It was later discovered that this was the corpse of Amy Carlson, the leader of the Love Has Won cult. But what would lead a McDonald's manager and mother of 3 young kids to abandon her family and home and start a cult? On this episode we’ll discuss who Amy Carlson was, some of the ideas and crazy theories her cult was trying to spread, and what led to her death and becoming a mummified blue corpse.

3M Forever Chemicals: Science. Applied To Kill Us.
In 1997 3M chemist Kris Hansen was tasked with testing the blood of their employees for the presence of fluorochemicals, also known as forever chemicals. Hansen was told they weren’t toxic, but the company wanted to know how widespread they were in their employees. When testing control samples they came to the realization that these chemicals were in every person and animal in every country they obtained samples from. This week, we’ll discuss fluorochemicals and how they got in all of us, the possible health ramifications, and how comedian John Oliver led to Hansen coming forward with her story!

Living in a cave, not gonna lie, sounds pretty cool. For over 30 years, a monk Giovanni Maria De Agostini lived in caves all over Europe, Brazil and America. He was so admired that he gathered a following in almost every country he went to. So much so that he still has a small number of followers who make pilgrimages to his old cave home in New Mexico to this date. But, why would someone choose to live like this, in a day when homes are available?

Alfred G. Packer: America’s First Cannibal
Alfred G Packer left Provo Utah with a group of prospectors to Breckenridge Colorado to try to strike it rich during the Colorado Gold Rush in 1873. Against the advice of others, he decided to travel to Gunnison Colorado in the middle of an unusually harsh winter storm. While he didn’t find gold, he did become infamous for resorting to murder and cannibalism. Today, we’ll discuss who Alfred Packer was, accounts of the incident based on two of Packer’s confessions, and the fate of America’s First Cannibal.

Great podcast! In todays information overload society it’s refreshing to hear about things that are worth knowing.. blood baths… la llorona….glow in the dark pigs ( as a teen yes I had glow in the dark condoms). In my huge podcast library, your a must listen. Where is the gothic night club?? 😄
