Four out of five American consumers have encountered some type of fraud this year. AARP Fraud Watch Network director of programs Kathy Stokes says it is not a good idea to make a purchase through an ad on social media.. “Half of us go with that ad and purchase something but a third of us experience fraud doing that.” Gift cards, I understand, which are so popular, what should we be watching out for there? “The highest amount of people, 30 percent this time, said that they have either given or received a gift card with no value on it.” Stokes was a guest on the What’s Next Living Longer Better Smarter podcast. You think you’re going over to a friend’s house, a family member’s house, you don’t know who is going to be there, what allergies they have. It’s really nice when you can show up with something and feed everyone. You’re like, no, they can have it, they can have it, they can have it, everyone can enjoy it together, right?
