    Episode 16 - Adam Goldenberg

    Episode 16 - Adam Goldenberg

Teddy here with another edition of the TeddyTalkPodcast. Todays’ guest is Adam Goldenberg. Adam, a young man in his late 30s, is a serial entrepreneur. Currently, along with Don Ressler, he is co-founder and co-CEO of the Tech Style Fashion Group. You’ll hear more about the company in the podcast. What’s of equal interest is this is Adam’s 5th company. He’s been starting and building companies since he was 15 and this is his largest endeavor to date. I met Adam a little over 5 years ago so this is one of the podcasts with a current client relationship. What attracted me to want to work with Adam (well, anyone who knows him will tell you he’s wicked smart) – but beyond that he’s keen on creating a corporate culture not as a “nice to” but as a “need to” for ongoing, continued success. I’m always in on that. If you’re interested in an entrepreneur’s perspective of building a brand (or a few brands) I think you’ll enjoy his observations of the pilgrim’s path as well as his progress to date. Here we go…

Episode 15 - Dr. Alona Pulde and Dr. Matt Lederman

Episode 15 - Dr. Alona Pulde and Dr. Matt Lederman

We're back with another edition of the TeddyTalk podcast. This one falls more on the lessons in life than leadership category but of course the two aren't that far apart in my world. I had a chance to sit down with two wonderful humans who also happened to be gifted medical professionals with backgrounds in complementary medicine which means training in both Eastern and Western and holistic modalities. They are Dr. Alona Pulde and Dr. Matt Lederman. And it turns out of course that they're married to each other as well.

So I first became aware of them through their presence in a documentary on plant based diet called Forks Over Knives. Some of you may have seen it. It's a wonderful documentary showing the benefits and scientific background of having a plant-based diet. Some years later I was introduced to them personally by my pals at Whole Foods Market and that was at the time that Alona and Matt were just opening some wellness and medical centers for Whole Foods team members and their families. I was helping them on the leadership side of things while immensely enjoying our concurrent chats about health, nutrition, and the benefits of a plant-based diet which those of you who know me well will appreciate I am deeply committed to.

So you'll hear the story not only of their journey into complementary medicine but also how that has evolved into a search for joy from the inside out. So as they say sit back and enjoy and listen to the first ever TeddyTalk podcast with two folks at once.

    Episode 14 - Andy Mooney

    Episode 14 - Andy Mooney

Today my guest is Andy Mooney. Andy is currently the CEO of Fender Guitar (think “dream job” for him as a long-time collector). Prior to Fender Andy spent 20 year at Nike and another 11 at The Walt Disney Company. Please settle in as this episode is a masters level course in brand stewardship. One of the themes from early on in Andy’s career has been his keen sense to point out what needed to be done (and was not being attended to) or what needed to be done differently and then finding himself slotted in to fill that specific need. Innovation, curiosity, and the raising of “pirate flags” have all played a part in the evolution of Andy’s leadership persona. From his days as Chief Marketing Officer at Nike (twice) to his chairmanship of Disney’s Consumer Products division, Andy’s re-telling of his leadership journey is pretty funny as well as inspiring. Now in the midst of his “3rd Act”, Andy is enjoying  the mentoring phase of leadership, his legacy already imprinted on the consumer products divisions of several major Hollywood Studios. All right, let’s have at it.

    Episode 13 - Pam Lifford

    Episode 13 - Pam Lifford

Today’s episode is with Pamela Lifford. At the time of this recording Pam was President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products Division. Our conversation meanders from the beginnings of Pam’s career path in apparel through the various high profile companies she has worked at and the mentors and lessons she encountered along the way. One of the themes of the conversation is Pam talking about the importance of “showing up” consistently; with enthusiasm, and a willingness to participate. It’s very much how I knew her at The Walt Disney Company where she had nothing short of a meteoric rise. Listen for the choices Pam has made, the courage she has had and how building relationships got her a seat at the table. Towards the end I asked Pam about her observation of the evolution of black women in the workplace. The conversation shifted from career path in work to career path in life. I was humbled by her retelling of childhood experiences with other kids at school and with her father at home and how that has further shaped the choices she makes as a leader to this day. Perhaps a couple of weeks after Pam and I spoke I read in the paper that her job had changed (and gotten even bigger). She was now President of Warner Bros. Global Brands and Experiences of which Consumer Products is a part. Big job, big talent. Let’s get into it…

    Episode 12 - Eva Sage-Gavin

    Episode 12 - Eva Sage-Gavin

Today I am speaking with, and delightfully listening to, Eva Sage-Gavin, a very accomplished executive, wife, & mother; not necessarily in that order.
I met Eva early in her professional career when we worked on exploring her executive presence and presentation skills. Of the 5 companies we worked at together, we probably had the most time at Disney. It was there that I enjoyed watching Eva become a truly gifted speaker. Far better than I have ever been. And it was during her transition to Disney that I first saw a quality in Eva that I came to recognize regularly and admire wholeheartedly as she and her teams garnered success after success. It was a fierce resolve. A strength of will. And she leads from the heart. Eva embodies the phrase: “How a person does anything is how they do everything.” After retiring from The GAP as Chief Human Resource Officer, Eva has recently re-entered the work force as Sr. Managing Director of Accenture’s Global Talent & Organization Practice. She’s also served as a Senior Advisor of The Boston Consulting Group and former Vice Chair of The Aspen Institute’s Skills for America’s Future. All those experiences and more barely begin to illuminate the qualities of leadership and humanity that Eva possesses. As you can tell, I’m a big fan. If you appreciate leadership, after you listen to this, I imagine you will be one too.
