What begins as an anthology of imaginative, apocalyptic stories assembles into a narrative involving an all-out multiverse war. The apocalyptic stories are imaginative, devastating and final. They span different decades and different countries. And are as conceivable as a humongous asteroid to as fantastical as devouring plants or the extraterrestrial. But the stories, as harrowing as they can be, also contain glimmers of doomed, bittersweet hopefulness. Such as in sparks of affection in relationships that have gone cold. And in mentions of what could have been and what once was. It’s thrilling to hear the story spin together from the different episodes which all seem separate at first. However with how complex the story is, some confusion can result. This is a very good collection of apocalyptic stories, but also requires a keen ear to pay attention to details especially in the latter half. Some podcasts you can listen to in the background, while others command attentive listening, and this is one of them. Especially as voice actors repeat—and for reasons you’ll see why! I enjoyed the mix of horrifying details and sensitive, delicate writing as well. And also the dark folk instrumental theme music. Well done!
