    4: Chasing Liberty (ft. @AfroVII)

    4: Chasing Liberty (ft. @AfroVII)

This is the story of a young Nigerian lady —Seyitan Babatayo—who got on Twitter in June 2020 to share sad details of her encounter with Nigerian singer Dapo ‘Dbanj’ Oyebanjo whom she claimed raped her in December 2018 after a show in Lagos.

Seyitan alleges the singer found his way into her hotel room, after his performance at the event, using a spare key and forced his way on her. She also claims to have demanded nothing but an apology which she didn’t get hence her speaking out.

It’s been one allegation or the other ever since, with both parties getting their legal teams involved.

On this episode, I reached out to Tola (@AfroVII) —a writer and social critic—and we go back and forth on the account of things as we know.
