Pete and VinoMike are back with part two of their mini-series honoring women winemakers. Today, the guys feature an extraordinary and uniquely focused winemaker named Angela Osborne. Angela’s dedication to the Grenache grape is an inspiration, as is her story that takes her from New Zealand to around the world before settling in the Santa Barbara area of California.
The wine today is Angela’s A Tribute to Grace 2020 Rosé. Made from 100% Grenache, this pink beauty is drinking incredibly well now and has another year or two ahead of it. In other words, don’t sleep on a Rosé of this caliber when it comes to a little bottle age.

While we should all celebrate the women in history, in wine, and in every aspect of life all the time, this is a special set of dates to help us move the conversation forward. Pete and Mike may not get it right all the time, but know they are trying.
The wine today is Elena Fucci’s Titolo 2017. This incredible example of Aglianico del Vulture from Basilicata is not to be missed. While this beauty is drinking wonderfully now, you’ll want to grab a few bottles and lay some down for another decade to get the full enjoyment of this perfectly produced Italian red!

Drink Inside the Box
Season 3 Episode 1 – Drink Inside the Box
Pete and VinoMike are back! And they are exploring the world of boxed wine.
Inspired by some social media posts, VinoMike sought out a couple of boxes of wine and the guys thought, “That’s an episode.” Don’t judge too quickly because there are some really solid wines out there sitting in bladders inside boxes just waiting for you.
The first wine is called Schplink!. This 2020 Grüner Veltliner is fresh and delicious. The guys get into both their impressions of the wine and the history of the winery. Amazing that there is this much quality in a 3L box!
Next up, there is the non-vintage Sandy Giovese. A blend of 85% Sangiovese and 15% Trebbiano, this is exactly what you would expect – a fun, juicy wine that is very drinkable and not overly serious. There is some surprising complexity in there and would be a perfect wine for just about any picnic or backyard get-together.

A Very Spanish Season Finale
Season 2 Episode 20 – A Very Spanish Season Finale
2021 has been quite a year. Pete and VinoMike bring it to a close with an hour of discussion about the wines of Spain, featuring a ravishing Rioja red!
The guys dig into a bottle of Viña Pomal Rioja Reserva 2014. This incredible example of Rioja is 100% Tempranillo aged in all American oak. The balance is incredible with the earthy mushroom dominating the dried red fruits. Definitely, one to try!
The bulk of the episode is an overview of the classic Spanish wine regions of Cava, Rioja, and Priorat. Lots of details in there, so grab a glass of one and enjoy.

Friend of the show, Bill, asked Pete and VinoMike how they would go about making a wine list for their fictional restaurant – The Glasshole Bistro. Well, the guys took this opportunity to not only dive into how they would make a wine list but to give you insights into wine lists from the restaurant and customer perspectives.
You know they can’t talk about wine without sipping a little. The guys popped the cork on a unique California wine from Field Recordings. The 2020 Field Recording Domo Arigato (Mr. Ramato) is a skin-contact Pinot Grigio. This makes the wine orange in color and completely delicious. If you are wondering if the guys get into the Styx song Mr. Roboto, you probably already know the answer.

Riesling is one of the six historical Noble Grapes, yet it is one of the most misunderstood. Great Riesling is not cloyingly sweet. It is balanced and nuanced with amazing acidity and very long aging potential. From bone-dry to wonderfully sweet, Riesling is rightfully a favorite of oenophiles all over the world.
To talk through what makes Riesling so special, VinoMike shared a 2010 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett. Although 11 years old, this stunning white offered up fresh fruit, a kiss of honey, and incredible balance. Still youthful, this wine is proof of the fact that Riesling can snuggle up in your cellar for a very long time!
