ADHD: Women are the Niche

In this episode, I sit down with my beautiful friend Steph, who bravely shares her personal journey living with ADHD as a 27-year-old woman. We talked about everything from the unique challenges she's faced to the strategies she's used to thrive in her personal and professional life. It was such an insightful and inspiring conversation that I can't wait for you all to listen! Unfortunately, many young girls and women with ADHD don't get diagnosed until later in life. Many symptoms of ADHD in women present themselves as other conditions such as anxiety and depression. For every 3 boys diagnosed with ADHD, only 1 girl gets diagnosed. This is largely due to symptoms in young girls that often manifest differently. My Cancer Story Part 2: The Diagnosis

Hey there, it's me Emerald, and I'm back with another episode of "That's Tabu." In this installment, I continue my personal story of battling cancer. I'm going to talk about the moment I received a call from my doctor informing me that I had Stage IIB cervical cancer and the treatment plan that was yet to come. I have to admit that going through this part of my story was difficult to share, so much so that I had to record it twice. However, I'm here, and I did it. I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their support on the first episode, and I'm excited to continue sharing my journey with you. In this episode, I'm going to explain my emotions and headspace after receiving the news, as well as the many ups and downs (mostly downs) of my treatment. It was a challenging journey, but I'm hopeful that sharing my experience may help others going through a similar situation. So, grab a cozy spot and get ready to get uncomfortable as we walk through my cancer treatment together. My Cancer Story Part 1: The Lead-Up

Welcome to the That's Tabu! The podcast where we discuss modern taboo topics. After having cancer, I don't care anymore and want to share my story. In this first episode, I would like to share with you the origins and creation of this podcast. My name is Emerald, and on February 19th, 2022, I received the life-altering news that I had Stage IIB cervical cancer. As you can imagine, this news was devastating and completely uprooted my life. However, through my journey, I discovered the power of sharing my story and the importance of opening up conversations about topics that are often considered taboo around women's health. Telling my story from start to finish was a difficult and emotional process. It brought back triggering memories but also reminded me of moments of laughter and hope. Throughout my journey, I felt immense shame and embarrassment about my situation. All the shame and stigma that is tied to menstrual cycles and just being a woman, in general, became magnified. However, I knew that I couldn't stay silent about my experience. I wanted to share to open up conversations about real topics that women face. We're just scratching the service. That's Tabu is a podcast where we discuss topics like mental and physical health, sexuality, feminism, and more. This podcast aims to create a safe space where people can share their stories and experiences without fear of judgment. This is only the beginning of my journey, and I'm excited to continue sharing my story and the stories of others. Part two of my story will be coming soon, so stay tuned.
