The One With Chris Pitt on Freedom Through Forgiveness

Thanks for joining us for this episode of That’s Why We’re Friends. The podcast is created for women in the oldish season of life, where we get real & vulnerable about all things faith, family, our bodies, health & everything in between.   If you’re looking for a space to laugh & cry about the real stuff, this is it!  —---- This week on That’s Why We’re Friends… In this episode, we are joined by special guest Chris Pitt for a powerful conversation about forgiveness, freedom, identity, and the restoring work of God. Chris shares his personal journey and reminds us that forgiveness is not simply about letting someone off the hook. It's about stepping out of the prison that unforgiveness creates and walking into the freedom Christ has already secured for us. We talk about receiving God's forgiveness, extending forgiveness to others, and the importance of refusing to live under shame and condemnation. Looking at the story of the woman caught in adultery in the Gospel of John, we're reminded that Jesus does not call us to remain stuck in our past. He calls us to get up, walk forward, and live in the freedom He purchased for us. We also discuss the power of testimony, the truth of our identity in Christ, and how God continually redeems, restores, and reconciles broken things. While God does the restorative work, we are invited to partner with Him by taking faithful steps forward. This episode is a reminder that nothing can separate us from the love of God, and that freedom begins when we stop living from a victim identity and start living from our identity in Christ. —------- To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link: https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebies Remember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on! The One About Living Free

—---- This week on That’s Why We’re Friends… In this episode, we continue our conversation around freedom and the Father’s heart by talking about the difference between feelings and truth. So often we wait to feel free before we start living free, but true freedom in Christ is not based on emotion. It is rooted in truth. We talk about what it looks like to acknowledge our feelings without allowing them to become the final authority in our lives. We discuss the importance of putting faith first, facts next, and feelings last, and how God’s Word helps anchor us when emotions try to pull us into fear, shame, discouragement, or bondage. We also talk about practical ways to keep truth in front of us through Scripture, speaking truth aloud, community, and consistently returning to God’s Word so His truth becomes planted deeply in our hearts and minds. This episode is a reminder that even in seasons where we feel stuck or are struggling, we are still fully loved and fully free in Christ. Freedom is not something we earn when life feels easy. It is already ours through Him. —------- To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link: https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebies Remember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on! The One With Don Manning

—---- This week on  That’s Why We’re Friends… In this episode, we are joined by special guest Don Manning from Crazy Cool Family for a conversation about parenting, family, connection, and the Father’s heart. We talk about the grace of God in the gift of family and what it looks like to lead our homes with humility, intentionality, and relationship. Don shares wisdom about becoming a student of your spouse instead of a critic, why connection matters more than control, and how fathers help give children identity. We also discuss the fear that can show up in parenting, the importance of pursuing God first as sons and daughters of the King, and the reminder that being a disciple of Christ impacts every role we have in life. One of the most powerful parts of the conversation is the picture Don shares of parenting beside our children instead of standing between them and God. Together, we pursue Him side by side. This episode is full of practical encouragement for parents and grandparents alike to pursue connection, create healthy family culture, and remember that whoever brings hope into the room has the most influence. The One About Fighting With Truth

—---- This week on That’s Why We’re Friends… In this episode, we talk about how easily the enemy can pull us into lies, not always in huge, obvious ways, but often through small thoughts, small compromises, and subtle patterns that slowly shape the way we think. We discuss the importance of knowing the Word of God so we can recognize what is true and what is not, and what it practically looks like to take our thoughts captive as Scripture talks about in 2 Corinthians 10. We also talk about the process of recognizing the lie, surrendering it to Christ, replacing it with truth, and being mindful of what we are allowing into our minds and hearts through what we watch, hear, and meditate on daily. This conversation also touches on confession, repentance, spiritual warfare, and the reminder that we are not fighting in our own strength. God has equipped us for this battle, and through Christ, we have both the ability and calling to walk in truth and freedom. Because it’s not enough to simply remove the lie we also have to intentionally fill our hearts and minds with truth. —------- To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link: https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebies Remember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on! The One Where We Learn To Live Loved

—---- This week on That’s Why We’re Friends… In this episode, we talk about the freedom that comes from truly understanding the Father’s heart. So many of us live exhausted spiritually because somewhere along the way, we started believing we had to earn God’s love instead of simply living from it. We can find ourselves stuck in cycles of performance, trying to do all the “right” things while still not feeling close to God. We discuss what it looks like to live fully accepted and loved by Him, how burnout happens when faith becomes about striving instead of relationship, and why spending daily time with God changes the posture of our hearts. We also talk about parenting from the Father’s heart, the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15, and the reminder that there is nothing we can do to make God love us more or less. His love remains constant. This episode is an encouragement to stop striving for approval and instead live from the place of already being fully loved by the Father. Because when we truly know His love, the love and approval of the world slowly begin to lose their grip. —------- To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link: https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebies Remember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on! The One Where We Trust God In The Waiting

—---- This week on That’s Why We’re Friends… In this episode, we continue our series on biblical femininity by looking at the story of Hannah—a woman who knew what it felt like to carry such a deep desire that it physically hurt. Hannah longed for a child while enduring misunderstanding, heartbreak, comparison, and disappointment. And yet through all of it, we see a woman who continued bringing her honest heart before God. We talk about the tension of wanting something deeply good and wondering why God hasn’t given it yet. We discuss the pain of waiting, trusting God in seasons that feel confusing, and learning how disappointment can actually draw us closer to Him instead of further away. This conversation is for anyone walking through unanswered prayers, grief, longing, or uncertainty. Hannah’s story reminds us that God sees us fully, understands our pain, and invites us to trust Him even when we don’t understand the process. Sometimes God’s answer looks different from what we imagined. Sometimes His timing stretches us. But even in the waiting, He is still faithful. And maybe the deeper invitation is this: Will we allow Him to still be God while we trust Him with our hearts? —------- To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link: https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebies Remember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on! The One Where We Trust God With Our Yes

—---- This week on That’s Why We’re Friends… In this episode, we continue our conversation around biblical femininity by looking at the life and strength of Mary, the mother of Jesus. When we think about strength, we often picture confidence, power, or certainty. But Mary’s story shows us something different. Her strength was found in surrender, trust, prayer, and a willingness to say “yes” to God even when she didn’t fully understand what He was asking of her. We talk about what it means to keep our eyes fixed on God for our strength, the sacrifice that can come with walking closely with Him, and the sacred moments that happen when we choose obedience over comfort. Mary reminds us that God is not looking for perfection; He’s looking for willing hearts that trust His character enough to follow Him. This episode is an encouragement for anyone who feels unqualified, uncertain, or stretched thin. God doesn’t ask us to come to Him already perfected. He simply asks us to walk with Him as He sanctifies and strengthens us along the way. —------- To get all the freebies we offer, follow this link:https://thatswhywerefriends.com/freebies Remember to subscribe & follow so you never miss anything we’ve got going on! The One With Rachel Joy

—---- This week on That’s Why We’re Friends… In this episode, we sit down with Rachel Joy from Sparrow Collective to talk about faith, freedom, obedience, and what happens when we simply give God our “yes.” Rachel shares the story behind the ministry God built through her - a beautiful testimony of how He can take ordinary obedience and create something far beyond what we could imagine. Together, we talk about walking by faith even when things feel uncertain, trusting God with the dreams He places in our hearts, and learning to hear His voice in the middle of life’s chaos. This conversation is a reminder that God is present in the small things, that Godly community matters deeply, and that being faithful is far more important than having everything figured out. When we’ve experienced the freedom of Jesus for ourselves, it naturally becomes our desire to see others walk in that same freedom too. If you’ve been holding back, waiting to feel “ready,” this episode will encourage you to trust that God can do anything with a surrendered heart.
