Interview with William Sadler 3: Back with a Vengeance (and a new album)

THIS INTERVIEW WAS RECORDED BEFORE THE SAG/AFTRA STRIKE

The fantastic, funny and ridiculously talented William "Bill" Sadler joins us back on the Podcast for the third time, ten years after his first appearence!!

We talk about his recent, more independent films that he's been working on, Stephen King on screen, working with Karen Allen, his new album "The Kitchen Tapes" recorded during covid and featuring songs both serious and silly, political, romantic and thought provoking, and a tremendous, name dropping tale of the time Dweezil Zappa borrowed his guitar.

He also gives me advice on making my own movie and leaves us with a little bit about working with James Spader.

The episode has it all, there really is, something for everybody.

"The Kitchen Tapes" comes out on August 1st and will be available to stream and purchase everywhere - Apple, Spotify, Bandcamp etc.

Buy the single Thoughts and Prayers right now!

Keep an eye on https://therealwilliamsadler.com/ because not only is William Sadler and excellent and fascinating dude, but also they will be releasing his album on vinyl and CD on that site, signed by the man himself - with all the profits going to Saint Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research

Sleazy Spader Springtime 6: Easy Sleazy Does It - Doc Paul Crowson & The Music of Chance

This week we are joined by Dr. Action himself, Doc Paul Crowson but rather than talking explosions and round house kicks, we are traveling back to the heady, indie waters of the early 90s when everyone wanted on the Tarantino, Soderbergh, Linklater, Smith boat - even documentary filmmaker, Philip Haas who decided to adapt Paul Auster's The Music of Chance into a fascinating two hander between Sleazy Spader and Mandy Patinkin, supported by a who's who of indie darling character actor favourites.

We talk the film, take a trip to the sleazetorium and find out about a very special charity that Spader runs...

Sleazy Spader Springtime 6: Easy Sleazy Does It - Matt Poirier, Ideas, Writing & Crash

Joining us to talk Sleazy Spader, in the most graphical, sexual, ludicrous and mad film Spader possibly ever did, David Cronenberg's 1996 lilting soliliquy to gratuitous sex and car accidents, Crash, is friend of the show, novelist, podcaster, blogger and lover of Moxie, Matt Poirier from Direct to Video Connoisseur.

We talk writing, ideas, getting over the first act hump, the world, society, the internet, Crash, Cronenberg, Spader, humanity, machines, cars, leg wounds and lots and lots of sex.

Also find out what job Spader would've loved to have if it wasn't for the families that have a monopoly on the industry!!

It's a long one but boy is it a good time! Enjoy!

Ep 353 - Donald Pleasence Double Bill - The Uncanny & House of Usher

Ep 353 - Donald Pleasence Double Bill - The Uncanny & House of Usher

On what could absolutely, very probably, be the last ever episode of The After Movie Diner, we go out with the very suitable subject matter of a Donald Pleasence double bill - We talk The Uncanny from 1977, which has the preposterous task of making a bunch of house cats seem scary and The House of Usher from 1989 which looks like it was shot on a cheap, local, theatre stage covered in polystyrene and crap Halloween decorations.
It's a fun conversation, in an actual diner (for the first time in 2 1/2 years), with our long suffering regular co-host, Jim Wallace.

    Ep 352 - Demonoid

Recorded back in January, here is host Jon Cross and special guest Kirk Howle discussing Mexican, possessed-hand, horror film - Demonoid - and occasionally taking long, weird and, hopefully hilarious, tangents about butt holes. Enjoy!

One of the most bizarre, but entertaining shows to there

I miss the days of the actual diner, but hopefully when the world sets itself right Jon and Jim will be able to get back to the old routine. Despite pandemics and life changes this show has plowed on and has been one of my top listens for many years. (Not quite the TEN years the show had been around, but I’m guessing at least half of that or more)

Talking while eating is bad manners

I can’t take the disgusting premise of the show. People chewing on food while trying to talk about movies. People actually like this idea.
