The Almost Forgotten

This is a history podcast hidden gem. I’m a big fan of history podcasts like Hardcore History and the History of Rome, and this is very good. The author covers a lot of history’s obscure and “almost forgotten” leaders that had a bigger impact on our history than they are given credit for. The multi-episode story of the Dutch Revolt against the Spanish Hapsburgs, told through the family of William the Silent is a classic. I also enjoy the author’s moments of wry humor. I greatly recommend this podcast to lovers of history.

The Almost Forgotten

It took an episode or two, but this show really grew on me. The breadth of material is impressive with stories from all over the world and all through time. The intro to each episode is almost worthy of a podcast itself with a quick tour of the entire world to set the stage for the story. I also appreciate Charlie’s low key sense of humor.
