    In this episode, Amy interviews Douglas F. Harrison. Mr. Harrison has acted as a presiding arbitrator, co-arbitrator and sole arbitrator in  numerous ad hoc arbitrations and in arbitrations under the ICDR Canada, ICDR International, Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, and National Automobile Dealer Arbitration Program Rules. He brings to his arbitration and mediation practice over 30 years of experience as a litigator with Stikeman Elliott LLP in Toronto, conducting a broad commercial litigation and arbitration practice for clients from around the world.     Episode 18: Joan Stearns Johnsen, University of Florida Levin College of Law

    In this episode, Amy interviews Joan Johnsen. Prof. Johnsen specializes in Alternative Dispute Resolution related skills including negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. Professor Johnsen also coaches the International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition Team, is the co-faculty advisor to the ADR Teams, and is the Director of the Institute for Dispute Resolution. Professor Johnsen has over thirty years’ experience mediating and arbitrating matters including banking and financial, employment, health law, and other large and complex commercial matters and her teaching reflects her expansive practical experience and expertise. She is on numerous dispute resolution panels including the arbitration and mediation panels of the American Arbitration Association, the International Center for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (“CPR”), and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”).     Episode 17: Prof. Tamar Meshel, University of Alberta

    In this episode, Amy interviews Tamar Meshel. Prof. Meshel is an Associate Professor and CN Professor of International Trade. She holds a J.D. degree from the University of British Columbia, and a B.A. (Hons), LL.M., and SJD degrees from the University of Toronto. Tamar practiced international commercial arbitration in a law firm in Vancouver, as Deputy Counsel at the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, and as a legal advisor to the Jerusalem Arbitration Center in Israel and Palestine. She was also a Research Fellow with the Max Planck Institute for Procedural Law in Luxembourg, a Scholar-in-Residence with WilmerHale's international arbitration group in London, UK, a Visiting Scholar with the University of Edinburgh Law School in Scotland, and a lecturer on international commercial arbitration at the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University. Tamar has authored over 50 publications.     Episode 16: Computer Scientist and Arbitrator Peter Vogel

    In this episode, Amy interviews Peter Vogel, a Lawyer, Special Neutral, Mediator, and Arbitrator specializing in Information Technology (IT) and Internet Service disputes. After receiving his Masters in Computer Science and gaining experience as a programmer, Peter has been involved with the IT industry for several decades. For more than 30 years Peter has negotiated contracts and litigated disputes regarding: a) Software Development & EPR Implementation Projects, b) Patent, Copyrights, Trade Secrets, and Trademarks Ownership and Infringement, c) Internet eCommerce and Social Media including Terms of Service and Privacy Policies, d) Domain Name Disputes, e) Blockchain integration, and f) Artificial Intelligence (AI) eCommerce applications. He routinely assists his clients with cybersecurity & privacy by assisting in creating and testing Incident Response Plans (IRP), and responding after cyber intrusions.     Episode 15: Arbitrator and Mediator Harrie Samaras

    In this episode, Amy interviews Harrie Samaras, an experienced, domestic and international full-time neutral. She has arbitrated and mediated hundreds of complex matters over the past 20 years with a focus on commercial transactions, intellectual property, technology, and business issues across a broad range of industries and technologies. Ms. Samaras has published and lectured extensively on arbitration and mediation topics including as the editor and an author of ADR Advocacy, Strategies, and Practices for Intellectual Property and Technology Cases, now in its second edition. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the College of Commercial Arbitrators. Ms. Samaras has held many leadership positions in the legal and ADR field, including serving as the Chair of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution.     Episode 14: Michelle Skipper, Vice President of the Commercial Division at the American Arbitration Association

    In this episode, Amy interviews Michelle Skipper, Vice President for the Commercial Division at the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in Charlotte, NC.  At the AAA, Michelle is responsible for overseeing the case management of large, complex commercial arbitrations in NC, SC, TN, KY, IN, OH and WV.  She also identifies and recruits arbitrators and mediators to join the AAA roster of neutrals and provides training to both clients and attorneys on the appropriate and effective use of dispute resolution processes.  In addition, Michelle leads AAA healthcare initiatives and chairs the AAA Healthcare Dispute Resolution Advisory Council.

    Episode 13: Family Arbitrator Lisa Hamilton, K.C.

    In this episode, Amy interviews Family Arbitrator Lisa Hamilton. Ms. Hamilton is an experienced counsel in all areas of family law. Ms. Hamilton handles family litigation, mediation, arbitration, negotiation and parenting coordination files. She enjoys advising and strategizing to find the best ways to resolve family law problems. Ms. Hamilton attended UBC, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990, majoring in Psychology. She obtained her Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Victoria in 1994 and was called to the Bar in 1995. She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Trial Lawyers Association of B.C., the B.C. Arbitration and Mediation Institute, the Family Law Advocates Group, the BC Parenting Coordinators Roster Society and the Family Law Arbitration Group. She regularly presents on family law topics. She was elected as a Bencher for the Law Society as of January, 2016. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2017.

    Episode 12: Prof. Andrea Kupfer Schneider, Director of the Kukin Program for Conflict Resolution

    In this episode, Amy interviews Andrea Kupfer Schneider, Professor of Law and Director of the Kukin Program for Conflict Resolution at Cardozo Law. Professor Schneider was the previous director of the nationally ranked ADR program at Marquette University Law School in Wisconsin, where she taught ADR, Negotiation, Ethics and International Conflict Resolution for over two decades. In addition to overseeing the ADR program, Professor Schneider was the inaugural director of the university’s Institute for Women’s Leadership. In 2009, Professor Schneider was awarded the Woman of the Year Award by the Wisconsin Law Journal and the Association for Women Lawyers. She was named the 2017 recipient of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution Award for Outstanding Scholarly Work, the highest scholarly award given by the ABA in the field of dispute resolution. Professor Schneider has published numerous articles on negotiation, plea bargaining, negotiation pedagogy, ethics, gender and international conflict. She serves as the co-editor of the ABA Dispute Resolution Magazine and on the Board of Advisors for the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution at UNLV School of Law. She is a founding editor of Indisputably, the blog for ADR law faculty, and started the Dispute Resolution Works-in-Progress annual conferences in 2007. In 2016, she gave her first TEDx talk titled Women Don’t Negotiate and Other Similar Nonsense.
