Episode 78: The Business of Cannabis with Yummi Karma

Episode 78: The Business of Cannabis with Yummi Karma

Krista speaks with Krystal Kitahara and Kristine Freeman from Yummi Karma, an all-woman cannabis company based in Orange County, California. Yummi Karma aims to normalize the use of cannabis, and Krystal, the company’s founder, describes how its first tincture, Drift Away (a dreamy mixture of magnesium, melatonin, chamomile, lavender, and cannabis), was initially devised to treat her mother’s insomnia.
Today, Yummi Karma produces a wide range of tinctures and lotions designed to soothe the mind, body, and soul. Krystal is particularly proud of the products it makes for women, and marketing manager Kristine Freeman, explains how its skincare lotions have been designed to look, smell, and feel like they come from a high-end beauty store but contain the added bonus of beneficial cannabinoids. As someone who has used marijuana to self-medicate since she was a teenager, Krista reflects on how the culture (and the law) around cannabis have changed and how microdosing has made it easier and healthier for her to use it to alleviate her anxiety.

Episode 75: Chaos to Calm with Katy Annulli

Episode 75: Chaos to Calm with Katy Annulli

In today’s episode, Krista invites her Operations Manager and right-hand woman, Katy Annulli, to talk about what it’s like to work for Authentic Audience and to tell listeners about her own business, KMA Organizing, which provides comprehensive virtual and in-person organizing services. Katy and Krista first met through Thumbtack, where Krista (feeling overwhelmed by the practicalities of running a business) had posted an ad for an admin assistant. Krista was immediately impressed by Katy’s air of calm confidence and Katy quickly realized that Krista could benefit from her ability to bring order into chaos. Three years later, Katy (whose discreet personality and practical expertise are the perfect foil for Krista’s vision and intuition), has become an integral part of the Authentic Audience team.

As a professional organizer and a small business owner, Katy’s mission is to support women by giving them the skills and the structures they need to run their businesses more efficiently. You can hire her to set up a bookkeeping system and instruct you on how to maintain it. She can help you with records management, office organization, and digital and physical decluttering. She can even help you to organize your living space to create a calm and clutter-free environment.

Real, truthful and inspiring

I love how honest and real Krista gets on her podcast. She’s relatable and inspires without being salesy like other biz & marketing podcasts.

honest , raw and guests keep getting better

I’ve been following this podcast since it launched and the evolution of guests have been amazing. My favorite episode though was kristas personal burnout and boundaries episode. It touched me really personally and just felt so relatable in this tough year we are going through as a collective . I appreciate the consistent vulnerability and it always feels authentic. I really feel kristas personality and passion for marketing come through on each episodes ✨
