70: Nothin' New Under the Sun? We're All Right, and There's Nothing Left

This is quite the Mercury-in-the-final-degree of Pisces park bench rambler, folks, so good that, three hours after recording, I forgot all I said. I know it was about populism, the author Thomas Frank, questioning if it’s true that there’s nothing new under the sun, noticing echoes in history, and realizing that now that almost everyone has been labeled Right Wing, that soon we will be All Right and then, there will be nothing left! Wordplay, folks, hiding deeper truths. Enjoy!

Bonus: Reading of My Blog Post, "2023's Eight Lessons For Me"

Bonus: Reading of My Blog Post, "2023's Eight Lessons For Me"

This is an audio reading of my annual "What the year taught me to post" for 2023. Of the past four years of doing this post, 2023 was, by far, the most impactful on my life, because I went through a difficult legal challenge, spending 45 days in a local Japanese jail, and then lost my father a few months later. However, as you'll hear in this article, going through these experiences truly did prove to me the notion that "whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Enjoy!

Daily Bryan Experiment 11: 2023, It's Been, Umm, Real!

Daily Bryan Experiment 11: 2023, It's Been, Umm, Real!

What a year! Two major events in my life---a legal kerfuffle that put me in a Japanese jail for 45 days in spring, and the death of my father in the summer---plus four months in the furthest reaches of Beelzebub's buttcrack---otherwise known as summer in the hottest part of Japan---well, this year certainly didn't play all that nice with me. The good news is it's over but, even better, the past month I've found my enthusiasm, my energy and my Spirit, and I think I have my Calling for my elder years, too. I (kinda) talk about it in this, the final of the Experimental days. Tomorrow the Daily Bryan Podcast Era officially begins!

Here are the three articles I reference in this episode. I worked super hard to get them all written, polished and published before the New Year's and hope you enjoy them:

    1. "2023's Eight Lessons For Me"
    2. "Bye, Bye Medium, A Retrospective (Part 3, 2021-2023/The End)
    3. "The Astrology of the First Half of 2024 Is Electric"

Daily Bryan Experiment 10: “Leave The World Behind” vs “The Teacher and the Tree Man.”

Daily Bryan Experiment 10: “Leave The World Behind” vs “The Teacher and the Tree Man.”

Having just come out of a Zoom call with my community on the Netflix movie, “Leave Then World Behind,” I got inspired to read the beginning of the novel the film is based upon, and there was an uncanny and clear difference in the two. Can you spot it? Let me know!

Daily Bryan Experiment 9: What Would Happen if We Trusted Each Other Again?

Daily Bryan Experiment 9: What Would Happen if We Trusted Each Other Again?

The Five of Pentacles in the Tarot shows two beggars in the snow, walking with their heads down past a well l-lit church. The meaning is: Help is here, if you reach out for it, but you have to notice it first. This means we’ve got to trust each other. There’s plenty of evidence showing how people rally in times of trouble. It’s our Culture that convinces us we are not trustworthy. Why not break the chains of that Culture, and begin trusting again?

Daily Bryan Experiment 8: : On Intuition And How Tarot, MBTI and Astrology Understand it

Daily Bryan Experiment 8: : On Intuition And How Tarot, MBTI and Astrology Understand it

I drew the King of Wands today for my daily Tarot drawing where I ask “What should I focus on today?” So because the Wands is connected to Fire in the 4 Elements of Astrology and Fire is connected to Intuition (N) in the Meyers-Briggs (Personality) Type Indicator (MBTI) system, I decided to talk about intuition, and how, despite our cultural perspective of intuition being a “woman’s” (feminine) superpower, in these frameworks it is connected to the masculine. This episode is, in its own way, a follow-up to yesterday’s because the main teaching of it is, again, reinforcing the idea that we are all unique, and to be cautious of projecting our way of Being and Doing onto the “We” world, saying “We all are like (such and such” or “we all must do (such and such).” Your Way of Being and Doing may not be my Way and that’s a good thing!

Amazing! Hilarious! Fun!

This Podcast is a Blast! You never know what exciting thing is going to happen in each episode. Bryan talks about everything: politics, Phish, life in Japan, bike-riding, America, spirituality, astrology, economics, nature, philosophy, etc.

Bryan’s show has a simple formula of trying to focus each episode on a B or a P word, but Bryan is also a rebel and a rule-breaker, so you’re always in store for a treat. Also, you never know where he is going to record, could be a simple studio recording, or could be an experimental one where he is out and about on his bike just taking in the scenery and talking about what’s going on in real-time. Every episode is an exciting experiment. Enjoy!
