It’s no Effectively Wild but it gets the job done

I’ve been having a pretty torrid baseball renaissance after decades away, and these fellows place the game’s many quantitative advances in contexts that explicate the concepts without reducing fandom to a waterfall of abbreviations. Extra points for the atmosphere of weariness that accompanies parenting children, the namechecks of kindred cultural phenomena and for not leaving me wondering if they actually really dig anti-vax police state action off mic. (I’d say, I can imagine being in grad school with these folks, but is that even a compliment?) In short, I seek lots of inputs for baseball content that are the opposite of the kind of dumbtastic cable or network dumbness that makes me dumber and makes being dumb dumber than ever before…. BP , in its myriad forms, the opposite of all that nonsense. It would sure be nice, however - as somebody forever in recovery from childhood in Jersey - if the talking-over-one-another could be dialed back. I’m not talking abstinence, maybe just harm reduction. Anyway, really nice work, blokes.

For intelligent baseball talk there’s nothing better in 2025. Once upon a time effectively wild was good, but those days are long gone (with sam miller). So glad Five and Dive exists! Thank you guys and keep it up.

FAYKOT is the best Mets pod out there. I’ve been listening to Jeff since his AA days and the content he puts out is on the top of my listening list at all times. Jarret is great too. The entire BP lineup of pods is top notch and if you enjoy in depth analysis topped with first rate writers then this is your spot for baseball content.
