Five and Dive, Episode 52: Bring back Better Off Ted

Five and Dive, Episode 52: Bring back Better Off Ted

In Episode 52, Craig, Bradford, and Emma tackle five more (mostly) baseball topics.

    1. An offer you can refuse: "Max Scherzer throws some high heat to the League's latest economic proposal." - Craig Goldstein

    2. Minor Threat: Some teams are furloughing minor leaguers, some teams are cutting them, and a scant few are going to keep paying them, imagine that.

    3. What we need right now are athletes: Pro athletes have been deemed essential, what does that even mean?

    4. Bad Max: Max Kepler's excuse for his recent instagram posts doesn't really seem all that plausible.

    5. The Duality of Franchise History: You know we had to talk about it.

Flags Fly Forever, Episode 230: FFF Goes To The Movies

Flags Fly Forever, Episode 230: FFF Goes To The Movies

Over at the BP website, there's a lot of movie based content already in existence and with more coming. Mike, Jon, and Samuel decided it'd be fun to do a show all about baseball movies. Well, Samuel did and the hosts didn't complain so it worked out just fine. They put movies into three categories, not unlike fantasy baseball players. See the tie in? Anyway it's a fun show with a lot of opinions including one classic baseball movie getting savaged in the "Movie to Avoid" tier. Enjoy!

Infinite Inning 145: Procrustes Mustardo and Wander Manchego for the Win

David Roth returns for a very “There is No Sports, Rudolph” special episode, discussing KBO baseball, the non-sale of the New York Mets, bad Mariners draft picks, old “chase” baseball cards, and dissects the current political scene. Plus tales of a pitcher who correctly counted his number of groins and a deadly panic at Yankee Stadium.

    TABLE OF CONTENTS
The Pitcher Who Only Had One*Death at the Stadium*David Roth: Quarantine Beards and Keith Hernandez Ads*Remembering Some Guys in a Pandemic*Selling the Mets/Keeping SNY*“Joe Biden Made Me Sign Eduardo Nunez”/Tanking*A Manny Ramirez Digression*Short-Printing Topps and Greg Swindell Collectibles*KBO as an MLB-Substitute*Extreme There-Is-No-Baseball-Chat (Late-Night WPIX in New York in the 1980s and Goodfellas )*Back to the Mets: All the Apes Are Interns*Are the Mets a Small-Market Team?*A Moment With the Mariners*The Political World: The Emperor’s New Clothes was Wrong*Goodbyes.

The Infinite Inning is not only about baseball but a state of mind. Steven Goldman, rotating cohosts Jesse Spector, Cliff Corcoran, and David Roth, and occasional guests discuss the game’s present, past, and future with forays outside the foul lines to the culture at large. Expect stats, anecdotes, digressions, explorations of writing and fandom, and more Casey Stengel quotations than you thought possible. Along the way, they’ll try to solve the puzzle that is the Infinite Inning: How do you find the joy in life when you can’t get anybody out?

For All You Kids Out There, Episode 222: "Darlin' don't you go and cut your hair"

In Episode 222 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett try to turn David Roth into a wrestling guy after a lengthy discussion of quarantine haircuts, Max Moroff, and things to do in Port St. Lucie in June. There Is No Offseason, Ep. 2.34: A Lizzie McGuire Villain

Mark and J.P. are joined by Jeffrey Paternostro of Baseball Prospectus for the 2016 re-draft that starts with a potential Disney Channel star and ends with some groanworthy picks. No murder hornets for this one though, it's a pretty deep draft.

Five and Dive, Episode 51: Student Activity Council

Five and Dive, Episode 51: Student Activity Council

In Episode 51, Craig and Emma discuss all-nighters and then tackle five more (mostly) baseball topics.

    1. Safety Dance: The Union and League continue to debate health and safety standards for a return to play, we assume they will get to the whole money stuff eventually.
    2. The Rent is Too Damn High!: At least it is for the Athletics, who are paying about as much for the stadium as a three-bedroom in SoHo.
    3. Furloughdown for the Letdown: Teams have begun to look at their June budget sheets, and it's not what you want (if you work for a baseball team).
    4. The Next Last Dance: The Last Dance is the only sports we have, so we consider some baseball options.
    5. Thanks I O'hate it: If you are doing some last-minute shopping for Emma's sister's graduation present, might we suggest Dale Degroff's The Craft of the Cocktail.

Good and informative but...

Listening to Jarrett Seidler’s voice is like listening to nails on a chalk board. Otherwise great info on the top 101 prospects.

They never disagree, might as well be 1 host.

The hosts never disagree or make separate points from each other. It’s fine, but I’m not sure why it’s formatted like a conversation. To emphasize their constant agreement, Emma begins every sentence with the word “Yeah”.

Good information

I am a baseball fan I love the game but during the off season I don’t keep up with it. This podcast is amazing for keeping up with the league during the off season. It gives you information about everything and not just one specific team. You learn more about all the league. I’m just saying it’s perfect to get caught up during the off season.
