Tim Urban W/ Bari Weiss on Honestly - Navigating the Labyrinth of Society: From Lizard Brains to Procrastination #41
In this episode of the Big Chew Podcast, Noah and Zach discuss a conversation between Barry Weiss and Tim Urban. They cover topics such as the history of humanity, the lizard brain vs the higher brain, politics and echo chambers, universities and ideological supremacy, liberal social justice vs social justice fundamentalism, procrastination and happiness, and social media and comparison. The conversation explores the impact of these themes on society and offers insights into how individuals can navigate these challenges.
Takeaways
Universities have shifted from being idea laboratories to idea supremacists, limiting the diversity of ideas and stifling intellectual growth.
There are two distinct forms of social justice: liberal social justice, which seeks to improve the nation, and social justice fundamentalism, which seeks to tear down and rebuild the entire system.
Procrastination is a result of our evolutionary programming and the struggle between our lizard brain and higher brain.
Social media promotes comparison and image crafting, leading to feelings of inadequacy and unhappiness.
To combat these challenges, individuals can prioritize their time, seek out diverse perspectives, and be present in the real world.

The Big Chew
Excellent and interesting podcast covering a variety of topics. Guys with good info and a sense of humor. 5Goose7
Unequivocally superb
At first I thought there was no way you can condense a 3 hour Joe Rogan podcast into 15 minutes and still successfully convey the most important information, but by god these guys did it. After the first episode I was hooked, these guys do their research, speak well and convey the information in an easy to understand format. Their personalities drive the podcast and help you retain everything important without all the nonsense and filler chatter in a long podcast. Definitely recommend to anyone who just wants to learn something new or stay up to date with relevant topics.
conspiracy nuts under disguise
Title says it all… Rather than use majority consensus that science is know for, two arm chair experts cherry pick narratives to progress a narrative.
