    @leighannhealey hour: The Journey of Unlearning – Bodybuilding to Body Acceptance

    @leighannhealey hour: The Journey of Unlearning – Bodybuilding to Body Acceptance

    ⚠️TW: Eating Disorder

     We wish we couldn’t relate to Leigh’s reality of wanting to be loved and popular among others around her, and yet it’s a story most women know all too well.

    Thanks to the world’s standards, we often equate our worth and acceptance to the size of our body. Leigh believed those views for herself, creating an unhealthy relationship with food in order to minimize the size of her body. Fueled by her toxic relationship and the need to be “skinny”, she entered the world of competitive body building.

    Today’s episode is a story of learning to love yourself, finding acceptance, navigating grief and learning from life’s lessons. Join us for Leigh’s powerful story of her time in treatment, the importance of loving yourself unconditionally, and finding new love (in the most unexpected way).

    @heytheredolapo hour: Breaking Down Barriers

    @heytheredolapo hour: Breaking Down Barriers

    ⚠️Trigger warning: Self-harm & suicide

    After landing an internship people can only dream of, Dolapo began her journey to becoming a Dietician. She broke down barriers, representing the African American community by being one of the first people of colour to graduate in the program. (MIC DROP!!!)

    As a college basketball player, Dolapo saw her worth in her strength and success within the sport. But when a knee injury forced her to rediscover her worth, she started experiencing new things. Enter her love of Pilates and the lesson of bringing slow movements into everyday life in order to remain grounded.

    This episode is filled with many important lessons — lessons learned through Dolapo’s upbringing, home life and mental health journey. Dolapo gracefully reminds us to bring gratitude with us everywhere we go and not to take our health and privilege for granted.
