The Problem with Content Batching Too Far in Advance

Everyone says content batching is the secret to staying consistent online — but what happens when getting too far ahead starts working against you? In this episode of The Branding Fix, we’re talking about why batching months of content in advance can make your posts, videos, blogs, or newsletters feel outdated before they ever go live. We share what happened when we created way too much content ahead of time, why most of it never got published, and how we now approach planning in a more flexible way. Because content batching isn’t the problem. Batching so far ahead that you lose the ability to respond, adjust, and evolve? That’s where things get messy. Video Podcasting Is Here: Why Creators Need to Pay Attention

Apple Podcasts is rolling out video podcasting, and it could change how creators think about podcast strategy. In this episode of The Branding Fix, we talk about what Apple adding video means for podcasters, why YouTube should not be the only place creators share video content, and how giving your audience more ways to consume your content can expand your reach. We also discuss why video does not need to be overly produced. Sometimes the best move is simply turning on the camera, recording what you are already doing, and letting your audience choose whether they want to listen, watch, or switch between both. In this episode, we cover: Apple Podcasts adding video podcastingWhy this matters for creators and podcastersHow video could change podcast content strategyWhy relying only on YouTube can be riskyWhy simple video is better than overthinking it Listen in and let us know: are you planning to add video to your podcast or content strategy? 👇 JOIN THE FIX YOUR BRAND CHALLENGE: https://youtu.be/M8ZPlEzd_90 💼 ABOUT THE BRANDING FIX: We're two solo bloggers documenting how we rebuild and future-proof our content and brand. 🔔 New videos every Friday! Stop Writing More Blog Posts, Do This Instead to Make Money

In this episode of The Branding Fix, we’re talking about one of the biggest mistakes bloggers are making right now: creating more content instead of making their existing content work harder. We break down why constantly writing new posts can keep you stuck on the SEO hamster wheel, and why updating old posts, fixing orphan content, building content clusters, and improving internal links can often lead to faster results. We also talk about why old-school keyword chasing is not enough anymore, how personal storytelling and original photos can help your content stand out, and why depth, brand, and community matter more than quick keyword grabs. In this episode, we cover: Why bloggers need to stop posting more just to post moreHow updating old blog posts can help you make money fasterWhat orphan content is and how to fix itWhy content clusters build authorityHow to repurpose content without simply reposting itWhy AI SEO “hacks” are not the strategyHow brand, depth, and community help your blog stand outWhen to update, archive, noindex, or redirect old postsHow to build a seasonal blog audit plan Listen in and ask yourself: are you creating more content, or are you making the content you already have work for you? Stop Building Your Business on Rented Land

In this episode of The Branding Fix, we’re talking about platform ownership, rented land, and why creators need more than social media to protect their business. After hearing about a creator who was making $30,000 a month on YouTube and got demonetized overnight, we break down what it really means to build on platforms you do not own — including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Substack, and anywhere else your content depends on someone else’s rules. We talk about why your blog and email list are still two of the most important assets you can build, how social media should support your content ecosystem, and why your audience journey needs to lead somewhere you control. In this episode, we cover: What “rented land” means for online creatorsWhy relying only on social media or YouTube is riskyThe difference between borrowing an audience and owning a platformWhy your blog gives you more control, data, and freedomHow your email list helps you build trust and guide people through a journeyWhy social media should be a traffic driver, not the final destinationHow to think about your content ecosystem as a whole Listen in and ask yourself: if your favorite platform disappeared tomorrow, what would you still have? Beehiiv vs Substack vs Flodesk: Best Email Platform for Bloggers and Creators

Choosing an email platform sounds simple until you realize every platform is built around a different business model. In this episode, we’re talking about Beehiiv vs Substack vs Flodesk, but this conversation is really bigger than those three platforms. It’s about understanding what you actually need your email list to do. Are you trying to build an audience directly on a newsletter platform? Are you trying to drive traffic back to your blog? Are you creating a course, selling a service, running a content business, or building a brand ecosystem where your email list needs to guide people through a specific journey? That distinction matters. We talk about why built-in newsletter platforms can feel appealing, especially when they promise growth, monetization, ad networks, or paid subscriptions. But we also explain the trade-offs, especially if you already have a blog or website that should be your main content home. One of the biggest problems with platforms like Substack or Beehiiv is that they can blur the line between newsletter and blog. Suddenly, you’re asking yourself: does this piece of content go on my site or inside the newsletter platform? And if it lives in both places, are they competing with each other? For bloggers, creators, and brand owners who want to own their platform, that friction matters. We also talk about why analytics and automations are not just “nice to have.” If you want to test content, understand what your audience clicks on, and create interest-based journeys, you need an email platform that gives you actionable data and lets you segment people based on what they actually care about. And of course, we look at the money side, because platform pricing and monetization models should always be part of the decision. The big takeaway: don’t choose an email platform because it’s trendy. Choose it because it supports your actual content strategy, business model, and audience journey. Watch the video: https://youtu.be/xbixLho_mjs In This Episode, We CoverWhy Beehiiv may be a good starting point for some creators, but not the right fit for every businessThe difference between a newsletter platform and a traditional email service providerWhy bloggers should be careful about putting long-form content on platforms they don’t ownHow Substack and Beehiiv can create content strategy confusionWhy Flodesk works better for creators who already have a blog or independent websiteThe importance of automations, workflows, and interest-based audience journeysWhy analytics matter when testing content and improving your email strategyHow platform business models influence the features they prioritizeWhat creators should ask before choosing any email platformWhy “free” platforms still have a cost 👇 JOIN THE FIX YOUR BRAND CHALLENGE: https://youtu.be/M8ZPlEzd_90 💼 ABOUT THE BRANDING FIX: We're two solo bloggers documenting how we rebuild and future-proof our content and brand. 🔔 New videos every Friday!
