The Bush Push

I worked as a manager for the 2005 Notre Dame team and I’ve yet to see or hear anything that captures all the emotion and hype of this game and everything leading up to it. This pod has taken me back to those days and does a fantastic job detailing not just the story, but the people involved as well. Awesome work.

Bait and switch tactics. The whole program was a lead up to focus on the vindictive, excessive ncaa sanctions. The ncaa couldn’t tolerate a winning program in paradise, with great weather and girls and a football team that crushed you and had fun doing it. For the self-righteous hypocrites in Indianapolis, it was too much of a threat to their precious SEC. Never mind that Cam Newton’s father was shopping his son to the highest paying SEC program. Never mind a decades-long academic scandal at UNC. Never mind Ohio State and Jim Tressel. The list goes on, ad infinitum. Is this an attempt at apologizing, now? It’s too little, too late. P.S. Funny how nd thinks they won. Even if the referees spot the ball at the 3, USC kicks the field goal to send the game into overtime. Maybe they win, maybe they don’t. And in the game against Texas, Bush’s “fumble” was a forward lateral.

This is great. Tells a great story and you feel like you’re on the field going through it with all these guys.

I’m a huge UCLA fan so once I saw the logo for this I was intrigued. This production reminded me of War of the Worlds. I remember learning in school about how captivating and compelling that radio broadcast was. Listening to this is like stepping into a time machine. Such a great idea and so well executed. Unlike USC’s failed 4th down run late in the 4th quarter vs Texas in the natty. Ohhhhh LenDale. I hope they make more projects like this about other historical events.
