Church and State Perspectives: East and West (Feat. Jeremiah Bannister)

The Orthodachs Show, Ep. XI   In this episode of The Orthodachs Show, TheBadgerDad and his guest,  Catholic journalist and YouTuber Jeremiah Bannister of  PaleocratDiaries.com, discuss the historical and theological connection  between the Church and the State.  Jeremiah digs deep into the  Magisterial tradition of Papal Encyclicals on this topic and TheBadgerDad brings examples from Byzantine Slavonic Church history to the discussion.  A highly thoughtful episode for those interested in how  to reconcile politics and religion from a Catholic point of view.     To support Jeremiah Bannister and his work go here:   Web: https://paleocratdiaries.com/   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Paleocrat   PaleoCheeze FB: https://www.facebook.com/PaleoCheeze/   Twitter: https://twitter.com/paleocrat   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paleocrat/   YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/paleocrat   Jeremiah's Son's YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaI3NvLexGebmRqV_ek0IwQ   For more episodes of The Orthodachs Show go here: https://thebyzantinelife.com/byzcatholic/byzcast/   Please consider supporting TheByzantineLife.com through one of the following ways:   Web: https://thebyzantinelife.com/   Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thebyzantinelife   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thebyzantinelife   Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheByzLife   Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.ca/thebyzantinelife/_created/ Instagram: https://instagram.com/thebyzantinelife   Sp3rn: https://sp3rn.com/community/pages/1213-tbl   Parler: https://parler.com/#/user/thebyzantinelife   Cover photo: Byzantine Empire Coat of Arms.    Intro Theme, Exaposteilarion for SS. Prayer Rule of the Theotokos (Holy Rosary for UGCC)

Feast of the Immaculate Conception by St. Anna of the Most Holy Theotokos, December 9, 2020.    According to Byzantine Tradition the Prayer Rule of the Theotokos (150 Hail Mary's separated into decades by recitation of Our Fathers, while meditating on the life of the Theotokos) was prayed in the East as far back as the 6th century.  Upon entering into Reunion with Rome, the Ruthenian (modern day Ukrainian Greek Catholic) Church rediscovered this ancient Eastern devotion through it's Western form, the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  This devotion was particularly spread in Western Canada by the workings of the first ever Byzantine Redemptorist missionary priests, who also brought with them the devotion to The Theotokos of the Passion or Our Mother of Perpetual Help icon.   In this video, The Byzantine Life family prays together the Hopeful Mysteries (Promise of a Saviour, Immaculate Conception, Nativity of Mary, Presentation in the Temple and Betrothal to St. Joseph). This 5th set of mysteries has been adapted to modern Rosary traditions with Ecclesiastical Approval.  These mysteries were part of the ancient Prayer Rule devotion and begin with short reflections from the Book of Genesis and the Protoevangelion of St. James.   F or more Byzantine faith resources go to: https://thebyzantinelife.com.    Text of "The Rosary: The Prayer Rule of the Mother of God in the Ukrainian Catholic Church" copyright of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton. Synod of Petrograd & Fátima

The Orthodachs Show, Ep. IX  In this episode of The Orthodachs Show, TheBadgerDad goes solo to recap  his research on the Byzantine connection to Our Lady's apparitions at Fátima and to share the canons of the Synod of Petrograd of the Russian Catholic Church of the Byzantine Rite, concluded on May 31, 1917. Venerable Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, Father and Head of the worldwide Ruthenian (Ukrainian) Greek Catholic Church convoked this gathering with special (and secretive) faculties granted to him by Pope St. Pius X and constituted the Russian Catholic Church of the Byzantine Rite, sui iuris. At this time the Venerable Metropolitan elevated Blessed Leonid Fedorov to be Apostolic Exarch of the new Church.     *Errata:  The Synod of Petrograd concluded on May 31, 1917, and was convoked on May 28, 1917 (cf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Greek_Catholic_Church and in Russian: http://www.rkcvo.ru/node/390)   For more info and background on the faculties granted by Pope St. Pius X, visit the work of Rev.
