  1. Why Mane Wants To Leave Liverpool

Why Mane Wants To Leave Liverpool

After a scintillating UCL final which saw Liverpool fall short to Real Madrid, African star and Senegalese attacker Sadio Mane announced that he wants to leave Anfield. The 30-year-old revealed before the match that he has an announcement and it has since been revealed that the reason behind wanting to leave, all comes down to wages. Mane is currently earning around £100 000 per week; he is currently outside of the Reds' 10 highest earners. According to Sport Bild, the reason for Mane's refusal to extend his stay with Liverpool is because the club were against giving the forward the weekly £393 000 wage package he had requested. Another hot topic that has been brought up; is Argentina thrashing Italy in the third ever edition of the CONMEBOL-UEFA Cup of champions. This fixture sees the winners of the COPA America lock horns with the winners of the European Championship. La Albiceleste have now gone a record 32 games unbeaten with an attack that seems to be too menacing for most opponents. This is the second major international trophy that Lionel Messi has lifted. On the latest episode of The International News Desk, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town goalie Sean Roberts discusses the future of Sadio Mane with Soccer Laduma International News correspondent Kurt Buckerfield. The gents also discuss the latest with Lionel Messi and Argentina emerging victorious over Italy in Thursday night’s Finalissima as well as a few other of the biggest transfer stories.

  2. Is Shalulile Good Enough For Europe?

Is Shalulile Good Enough For Europe?

As the PSL heads towards the business end of the season, it is becoming more and more unlikely the log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns will be caught as they now hold a gap of 14 points. Second Placed Royal AM seems too far behind the Brazilians. Another aspect pot this season that seems unlikely is Peter Shalulile not receiving the Player of the Season Award. The Namibian striker has scored an impressive 21 goals so far this season, after securing a phenomenal record of 2 hatricks in back-to-back matches. The 28-year-old is well on track to overtake Collins Mbesuma’s record of 25 goals in a single season. The Sundowns man has been in fine form for a few seasons now and a question that has run through everyone’s mind, is why isn’t he in Europe? Some would say that the salary at Sundowns is too good to turn down, others would say that he is flourishing in South Africa, why would he play second fiddle in Europe? Ultimately, is he good enough for Europe? Being 28 years old, many European clubs would commit a risk analysis on the player, but maybe a move to North Africa is the right decision. Or he is where he is meant to be? The UEFA Champions League has reached the semi-finals with 2 Spanish teams and 2 English teams left. All four of these teams had to fight to get into the semi-finals but none more fairytale-like than Villareal after the Yellow-Submarine beat the Bavarian Giants (Bayern Munich) away, to reach this spot. Soccer Laduma international news correspondent Kurt Buckerfield says “this Villareal story is beautiful.” On the latest episode of the International News Desk Special, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town goalie Sean Roberts discusses the levels that Peter Shalulile is reaching. Sean and Kurt chat about the UCL semi-final fixtures and who is next in line for the Manchester United Job!

  3. Ten Hag To The Rescue???

    Ten Hag To The Rescue???

With the 2021/2022 English Premier League season coming to the start of the business end, Manchester United find themselves in a measly 7th position on the league table. Having played 30 games (so far) and not having a 50% winning percentage is the biggest concern for the Red Devils. The 9 draws were wasted points and the losses then came as no surprise. United seems to be incredibly unstable and it seems as though everything started to fall apart when Fergie left-back in 2013. As of right now, Manchester United does not have a concrete coach as Ralf Rangink is merely an interim coach but what happens when his 6-month coaching contract comes to an end? Ralf will then step up to the director of football at the club, but in terms of coaches, there seems to be one man who's on top of United’s list. Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman has had some wonderful success with Ajax Amsterdam (current coaching job). Reports suggest that the deal to bring the 52-year-old to Old Trafford is ‘almost done' and the release clause in his contract could be a big reason why current PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino isn’t leading the race (amongst other things). Ten Hag is set to bring in some big-name players and with his expertise, hopefully, he can turn things around for the Red Devils. On the latest episode p\of the International News Desk, former Mamelodi Sundowns, and Ajax Cape Town goalie Sean Roberts discusses the rumours of PSG already offering Paul Pogba a contract. Soccer Laduma International news correspondent Kurt Buckerifeld joins the big man to talk about Bale's contract at Real Madrid and Karim ‘The Dream” Benzema.

  4. Sean: What Concerns Me About Bafana...

Sean: What Concerns Me About Bafana...

With the International break almost over, the world cup qualification is just about finished which sees 5 very strong African teams heading to Qatar. The regular European and South American teams will also feature. During this international football break, Bafana Bafana traveled to France to play the world champions in an international friendly. 65 places separated these two teams on the official FIFA rankings and ‘Le Bleus’ made sure they meant business. Unfortunately, there was a clear difference in skill level between the two teams; Bafana captain Ronwen Williams made many outstanding saves, but 5 goals were still conceded. One thing that stood out was the fact that no matter what the scoreline was, Bafana still tried to stick to their game plan. Although a few positives could be taken from the match, questions about Bafana and concerns still remain. Soccer Laduma International correspondent Kurt Buckerfield sheds light on statements made by Barcelona President Joan Laporta and who he claims has already signed for the Catalan giants for the 2022/23 season. Kurt provides an in-depth review of the latest 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and who will be heading to Qatar. On the latest episode of the International News Desk, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town Goalie Sean Roberts chats to Soccer Laduma International correspondent Kurt Buckerfield about the recent fixture which saw Bafana get drummed 5-0 to current world champions France. The gents break down the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and chat about the alleged poisoning of soon-to-be former Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich!
