    Ep 17 - The Terminator (1984) | What Came First, the Sarah or the Kyle?

    This week -as an accidental celebration of its 40th anniversary- Jordan and Jacob hurtle 40 years back in time, to witness the magnificence that is James Cameron's quasi-directorial debut, The Terminator! .... (it's technically 1982's Piranha II: The Spawning but you have to get Cameron on a good day for him to admit that). A science fiction action TECH NOIR film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as the titular Terminator and Linda Hamilton as the 'to be terminated'. Filled with arresting action sequences, expert exposition, seat gripping tension and a random Iguana, it is James Cameron's dream come to life . . . for us to make an episode on his movie.     Ep 16 - Rebel Without a Cause (1955) | He Got That James Dean Dead Teen Angst in His Eye!

    …and we got that fool-ish podcast thing that you like. And when Buzz go crashing down, he'll be dead in due time. Cause he never jumped out the car, he never jumped out the car. Taylor Swift musical parody aside, Jordan and Jacob have a jam-packed episode this week as they cover 1955s 'Rebel Without a Cause', the Nicholas Ray directed, James Dean starring coming-of-age drama about the rebellious, emotionally confused and misunderstood middle class youth of the 1950s. It's brimming with juvenile delinquincy and teen angst! (Perhaps the first film to portray these qualities in a sympathetic light.) And it's influence on the cultural landscape is nothing short of momentous. So throw on your finest red jacket, grab a handful of bullets, give your dad a kiss and meet us at the Griffith Observatory because this is an episode you don't want to miss...unless you're chicken?     Ep 15 - The Death of Stalin (2017) | They Broke the Canon of Earth Man!

    Greetings Comrades! It's me - Jordan, reporting to you live from the fictionalised land of Soviet Russia in 1953! I have no idea why Jacob has brought me here, how he got me here, nor do I know what anyone is talking about - something about Soviet onions I think. What I do know is that a man named Stalin has a gun to our heads and is asking us to be funny. Naturally we will be dead quite soon. But not before we report on the movie for this week, Armando Iannucci's 2017 political satire 'The Death of Stalin! Wait…..death? BREAKING NEWS. Stalin has just died at our feet and is now resting in a puddle of his own piss. As it turns out, this land we inhabit, much like the film of the week is based on true events, a fine weave of history and historical fiction. But, just how blurry is the line between fact and fiction? How does Iannucci find comedy in what was once earnest? Well, through this episode, you will come to learn that this shit just writes itself.     On Cinefools recording day Jordan asked Jacob what day it was. "Mean Girls Day", he responded. Jordan was disconcerted, forced to contemplate the ramifications of this endeavour into the uncharted "girl-world". Did the internet truly need to hear our thoughts on the Tina Fey written and Mark Waters directed 2004, teen comedy classic, 'Mean Girls' and its illustrations of the sociology of girls, gender norms, politics and the nuances and expectations of womanhood as pushed by an unrelenting culture? No it did not. But we did it anyway.     Ep 13 - Evil Dead Trilogy | Good? Bad? Raimi's the Guy With the Fun

    With their chainsaws and boomsticks at the ready, the Cinefools are biting off more than the usual chew this week, covering not just one, but an entire trilogy of films, Sam Raimi's cult classic Evil Dead Trilogy! (1981's The Evil Dead, 1987's Evil Dead II and 1992's Army of Darkness) Not solely a horror series teeming with gut-wrenching scares, a surplus of gore, demonic spirits and hair-raising violence, but a comedic one too, with a healthy balance of absurdist humour, wacky antics, eyebrow raising one liners and an over-the-top groovy style that'll have you possessed with amusement.     Ep 10 - Chef | Not for the Empty of Stomach

    9 weeks ago Jordan and Jacob started a podcast. Somewhere in those 63 days the Cinefools were scooped up by the unrelenting studio system. But they escaped. And just as Jon Favreau did with his 2014 indie darling 'Chef', (in which he directed, wrote, co-produced and starred in) they have reconnected with their roots. Talking about another film that seems to be (in more ways than one) a semi-autobiographical tale of its creator (JUST LIKE EPISODE 1). So get those grills pre-heated, your corn starch at the ready, and please, for the love of all that is good and holy, eat something. Because this is not a film (or episode) you will be able to stomach running on empty.
