Real connection. That’s all any of us really want. We want to belong. We want to be seen. We want to know we matter. The Connected Mom Life with Emily Siegel is a podcast all about learning how to live a life full of authentic connections. Because villages don’t just happen. They’re created. And each week, we’ll talk about how.
Minimizing Stress Series: Name What Matters [Part 1]
Between the holidays, kids, careers, LIFE - this can be a stressful time of year! So I wanted to spend a few episodes sharing some of my go-to strategies for minimizing stress not just during the holidays, but all-year round. In this episode, I’m sharing the first strategy I lean on when life starts to feel hectic to help me prioritize what matters most - so I can ditch the guilt and enjoy less stress!
Got the Friendsgiving Blues?
Does a lack of Friendsgiving invites or other holiday gatherings get you down this time of year? I’ve been there. And this episode is what I wish someone would have shared with me when I was in the thick of it. I hope it lifts your spirits and gives you some hope that these feelings don’t have to be your normal.
But What if it Doesn't Work Out?
As busy moms, the idea of investing a bunch of time to find your next best friend, only to have things not pan out can be a bit defeating. Plus, who wants to go through the uncomfortableness of figuring out how to walk away without things being weird? In this episode, we’re going to talk about this fear, what’s really behind it, and discuss some perspective shifts that may make this one easier to push past.
Could Friendship in Motherhood Actually be Easier?
We often talk about how hard friendship feels in the midst of busy mom life. But the reality is that a lot of things have actually gotten easier. So in this week’s episode, we’re going to talk about what is actually better about friendship in motherhood - like the ways kids can help us make more friends (and ease the awkward at the same time!), and how a lack of time may be the key to the most fulfilling and authentic friendships we’ve ever experienced.
Do you ever worry you might be annoying her?
The mind games are REAL when it comes to making friends as a busy mom. And the fear of being annoying (or a burden) comes up a lot! In this episode, we’re going to talk about what we’re actually afraid of when we worry we’ll be perceived as annoying, the number of outreaches it really takes to feel-out a new connection without being “too much”, and when to listen to your gut and when to question it in determining next steps with a potential friend.
My Experience Sharing My Stuff with a Voxer Bookclub
Bookclubs can be a great way to make and deepen friendships, but meeting monthly can be a bit tricky to pull off as a busy mom. So last January, I decided to give a Voxer book club a try. And it was a hit! In this episode, I’m sharing how I sweet-talked my friends into doing it, what it actually looked like each week to discuss the book in this format, and why our book choice made all the difference in helping us GO DEEP!
A true gift
I absolutely love this podcast and Emily. A lot of times, the advise you get on making new friends is very high level and not actionable. Often, it actually makes you feel worse since it makes it sound so easy, and you feel like you are failing. But Emily actually lays out what to do and what to say and I am so grateful I stumbled across her and her podcast.
Such incredible value!
I just listened to the episode where Emily is interviewing Brittany Bergman. I’m going to listen to the episode again because it was that valuable. It was such an authentic and connecting conversation where these two women shared vulnerably, openly, and in a way that gives anyone who listens a whole new set of tools to use so that we can honor ourselves as human beings and also be the most loving moms we can be too. I’m truly grateful to have found this conversation and your podcast, Emily.
Feels like chatting with a good friend
Emily feels so relatable and honest, giving you the kind of wisdom and perspective that you’d get from hashing things out with a trusted friend. A must listen for moms!
