    Episode 3 – Art, Legacy, and Resistance: Melody Wiggin & William Shipley

    In this vibrant episode of Creative Buzz, we begin with local oil painter Melody Wiggin, whose work is currently featured at Blue Loon Bakery in New London through the Center for the Arts' MicroGallery program. Melody shares insights into her artistic process and reflects on exhibiting alongside her late mother, Shirley Wiggin, a celebrated watercolorist known for her vibrant, expressive style. Their shared show is a beautiful tribute to creativity, family, and legacy. In our second segment, we dive into the world of speculative fiction with William (Bill) Shipley, author of Manufacturing Artificial Intelligence Agency (M.A.I.A.). Set in a dystopian future where AI chips erase memories and identities, the story follows sniper Alix Basil as he awakens to a forbidden truth. With the help of Anna—a fearless medic with rebellion in her blood—Alix must outrun the system before M.A.I.A. wipes his mind forever. In this interview Shipley discusses his book process and how AI was helpful in the use of parts of shaping his marketing. Join us for a powerful episode where art, memory, and imagination collide.

    Episode 2 – Framing Nature and Sound: Rick Stockwell & Gerry Putnam

    In Episode 2 of Creative Buzz, we celebrate the intersection of visual and audio artistry with two creative powerhouses from the Lake Sunapee Region. First, we sit down with beloved photographer Rick Stockwell, founder of the Naturally New England Art Show, now in its 8th year in partnership with the Center for the Arts. Rick shares how the show has grown into a cherished regional tradition, highlighting the beauty of our natural world through the eyes of local artists. This year, a special barn exhibit has been added in tribute to the film Vanishing, a compelling visual exploration of America’s disappearing historic buildings. The Center for the Arts will present the film, featuring the work of photographer Jim Westphalen, on July 13 at 7 PM. In the second half of the episode, we delve into the world of sound with Gerry Putnam, master sound producer and owner of CedarHouse Sound. With decades of experience in music and audio recording, Gerry shares insights into the art and science of capturing sound—from the acoustics of a room to the soul of a performance. Join us for a rich conversation that honors the beauty of place, preservation, and the power of both sight and sound.

    Episode 1 – Watercolor Wisdom & Generations of Creativity: Robert O’Brien & the Lowe Sisters

Based in Vermont and teaching widely across New England—including at the Center for the Arts—Robert shares invaluable insights into the watercolor process. His reflections are full of practical advice, encouragement, and artistic philosophy—perfect for anyone looking to deepen their skills or understanding of this expressive medium. In the second half of the episode, we take a joyful step into regional history with the beloved Lowe Sisters. Raised in Sutton, NH by vaudeville performers and a trapeze artist, the Lowes share their incredible family story and how their creative upbringing helped shape the cultural life of the Lake Sunapee Region. Their legacy continues to inspire artists and community members alike. Join us as we begin our podcast journey with voices rooted in artistry, legacy, and a love for this vibrant region.
