    Today's guest, John McCarney is a graduate of the Writers Guild Foundation Veterans Writing Project, an award-winning screenwriter and community builder, who grew up in Hollywood in the 1960’s. Three of his screenplays have placed in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science Nicholl Fellowship in the last five years; two of them Semi-finalists. Has had multiple screenplays finish in the Austin Film Festival Screenwriting contest, along with many other wins. He is an American Cuban having been embraced by a Cuban family who took him in during his teen years. He is also a certified bilingual and volunteers as an ESL teacher, helping new immigrants learn English. Join John and I as we talk about his unique life of growing up in Hollywood in the 1960's with a Cuban family, his experience in Vietnam during operation Babylift, being a community builder and developing a successful screenwriting career later in life.
