Crowd Ministries is a social ministry committed to inspiring and supporting men and women in the stands raising student-athletes. The Crowd's "stories in the stands" offers listeners an insiders perspective to the hearts and minds of everyday men and women in the stands to top performers and influencers in sports. Packing wisdom into each episode, to encourage you to seek God and His will first whether packing for the next road tournament, carpooling to the next practice, game or workout, or finally, catching your breath after another full week. Life is tiring and can be lonely. It can be especially lonely for the few who are committed to adventuring through the narrow gate (Matthew 7:13-14). This is where Crowd Ministries does its best work; in community. WE BELIEVE IN COMMUNITY IN THE CROW. The Crowd's host and number one cheerleader, Miranda Mendez is passionate about capturing conversations and stories in stands that encourage you to take that next step and enjoy the fullness of living for Christ. No matter where you are in your faith journey, we are cheering for you every step of the way!

    Episode 7: Rod Handley Freedom and Accountability

    Welcome to the Crowd, Episode 71! Today's guest is Rod Handley, Founder and President of Character that Counts. Rod is an Accountability Champion and served for many years as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).  Rod is a loving husband to Janna Handley, father to four children, sports enthusiast, speaker and published author of more than 30 books.  During this episode we discuss many parts of his book Character Counts-Who's Counting Yours?.     Episode 6: More with Meers - Kansas City Chiefs KC WOLF

    Dan Meers, better known in the sports world as KC WOLF and Kansas City's biggest party animal, joins us again for episode six!  In this episode we go deeper with Dan discussing his volunteer work at nursing homes and orphanages and the life lessons he has picked up along the way.  KC WOLF unapologetically shows the Crowd his sensitive side as he discusses his greatest hopes and dreams for his family, friends and community.  We learn more about how he lives by faith while facing his fears in the company of what he refers to as his "two little pigs."  I was moved to learn his thoughts about Dan Erickson's quote Dan included in his book, Mascot on a Mission, “My biggest fear is succeeding in life at things that don’t really matter.” Dan Meers and the Crowd agree we have a responsibility to the next generation and it's an honor to partner with Dan Meers in any way to raise up the next generation of believers in the stands.  To learn more about Dan's great mission in life, check out his book collection at Amazon.  All proceeds from Dan's books go to fund missions and ministries aiding orphans and the poor around the world through the 501(c)(3) ministry of Character That Counts.

    Dan Meers, a NFL Mascot on a Mission

    Dan Meers, better known in the sports world as KC WOLF and Kansas City's biggest party animal, joins us for episode five!  In this episode listeners learn Dan's passion for living with intentionality, making a living behind a mask, revamping strategy for the upcoming NFL COVID-19 season, and living on mission.  Dan is a loving husband and father, has served in the NFL as KC Wolf for 30 years, was the first mascot inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame, the first receive the NFL Mascot Dan Meers Lifetime Achievement Award, a skydiver, nursing home and orphan care VIP and so much more! I have many memories growing up in awe of the spectacle KC WOLF created at Arrowhead stadium and during our time together learned the incomparable character, grit, heart, mind and spirit behind the Wolf that makes him come to life.     Tyler Zuber Big Dreams and the Big League

    Kansas City Royals rookie pitcher Tyler Zuber shares what pursuing his dreams to the MLB was like and the role his family and faith play in staying grounded in his journey. Tyler and I share a love for our home state, Arkansas, and discuss with the Crowd the impact his coaches at Arkansas State made in his life as well as his boyhood baseball role model Derek Jeter.  During this episode Tyler and I discuss his decision to get baptized, how he faces adversity on the mound, the game changer social media makes in today's recruitment process, what starting his career during COVID-19 has been like, and the IMPACT he hopes to make in the game of baseball and Kansas City.

    In this episode, we continue our conversation with Dayton Moore, GM for the Kansas City Royals.  I have listened to his wisdom and encouragement several times since we recorded this show, and it brings me pure joy to FINALLY share it with you too!! Dayton shares a tip with the Crowd that he’s only shared privately with a few others and you don't want to miss the power and simplicity of it! Dayton speaks directly into the hearts of men and women in the stands as well as the competitors we are raising.  During this episode Dayton discusses: a mom's role (or motherly figure) in their athlete’s self-esteem, spiritual warfare, positive community, impacts of excuse making and comparison, overcoming failure, the power of forgiveness, how to handle criticism, habits of high performers and even shares some insight regarding KC's beloved cather, Salvador Perez!
