The curious case of cryptochromes

Annant Bir Kaur

In an attempt to unravel the role of cryptochrome proteins in the kingdom of life, Prof Corrochano, from University of Seville, Spain, talks about his recent research on DASH-type cryptochromes which are showing DNA repair activity, a function never attributed to them before. We discuss how similar proteins can have different functions with varying emphasis on biochemistry, structural biology and evolution.
