    A Singing Trojan Horse on Global Display

    Bethel. Hillsong. Elevation. Jesus Culture. Many of us know the names, and we know the songs. Those who were once part of this movement warn others of the issues surrounding the doctrines and practices emanating from these organizations that are growing in popularity and influence, those who are using their praise and worship songs to infiltrate society and other churches. Recently, a group of well-known worship leaders sang and led people into worship at the Charlie Kirk memorial service. All of these leaders have something in common that is both noteworthy and concerning.     YouTube Theologians in Reel Time

    Reels seems to bombard us and to pull us into the vortex of doomscrolling on our phones. In the mix of those reels, we can come across snippets of teachings and doctrines that are aberrant and confusing. Some people may even say some things that sound good, but do they agree with Scripture? Additionally, there are leaders who do not take kindly to being questioned, calling those who question their long-form content and their reels "YouTube theologians", which is meant to be derogatory and to insinuate that opposition is unfounded and lacking Biblical intelligence. However, we are all theologians. The question is, are we good, not so good, or bad theologians? Join me as we consider some reels, testing what is said and taught against Scripture.
