    If you’ve ever seen Michael Green do 'The Whaler,' you have every naked detail etched in your mind. It was wild theatre at its hilarious best — wet, nude, and undeniable. During the 30th Annual High Performance Rodeo - Calgary's International Festival of the Arts – The DFP Team were Listeners in Residence, recording on location, gathering your tall tales of Michael Green’s ‘The Whaler’. We borrowed your voices and built a chorus. A cacophony. A sea shanty. At a Listening Party of this episode, held on January 29th 2016, we celebrated YOUR remembrances, YOUR belly laughs, and YOUR voices shouting out “I AM THE WHALER!” one or two – or a hundred – times more.

    Sky Sounds Pt.3: Look Down

    In our final episode of the Sky Sounds series, we thought we’d try something a little different. Based on an interview with Boyd Nave – the resident ‘Butterfly Man’ at the Calgary Zoo – we bring you an original story called “Look Down” by local artist Ellen Close. In it, one species reaches out across the void to another seeking little more than a bit of understanding. This is the final episode of Season One of the Deep Field Podcast.     Sky Sounds Pt.2: Ranchlands Hum

    In part two of our Sky Sounds series, we turn our ears to the mysterious Ranchlands Hum: a near-subsonic drone that has been plaguing residents of the north west Calgary community for more than half a decade, without any explanation as to its cause. We speak to community association president and Ranchlands resident Terry Avramenko, as well as acoustic ecologist Dr. Marcia Epstein. Plus the Deep Field team heads out to the quiet suburban neighbourhood to see if a little bit of fieldwork won’t shed some light on the mysterious phenomenon.
