I was one of the earliest subscribers to The Dispatch’s morning newsletter. As a fellow anti-Trumper, I appreciated their center-right, principled perspective on politics and the world. However and over time, they seemed to have lost the plot as they have often been unwilling to give Trump credit when he deserves it. And, many at The Dispatch have lost what Trump rarely exhibits, which is a generosity of spirit. I unsubscribed from the daily newsletter sometime in 2025 but continued to listen to The Dispatch Podcast. On their 28 April podcast, Kevin Williamson could not simply disagree with something Erik Erickson said and wrote about the Left and violence, but made him the “loser of the day.” Many folks with The Dispatch should take queues from Matthew Continetti, Abe Greenwald, and Sarah Isgur Flores (one of their own), and Rich Lowry regarding how to be principled but generous in spirit.
