Joe Praino and Lachlan Patterson's podcast, The Kooks of Komedy, gives the perfect balance of surfing advice/talk while inserting comedic stories and even a glimpse into the two comedians' stand up routine with the segment, "new bits." While the comedians label themselves as "kooks", the advice they give is helpful to all skill levels. The surfing advice can range anywhere from how to respond when an agro local stares you down, to how pop up in time to get the perfect amount of spray. The show transistions in between comedy and surfing perfectly as the comedians know when to draw up similarities and differences between the two. The kooks will often share insights into their days/weeks that never fail to be hilarious. While listening in class or on the way to work, it's difficult not to become jealous of all the adventures mentioned on the show. Perhaps the best part of the show comes from the segment, #kokuestions, in which they answer any questions the fans have for the kooks. The kooks willingness to answer these questions demonstrates their appreciation for the listener, something that seems hard to comeby in an age where media is so centered on making money. Overall, the Kooks of Komedy is well worth the listen whether or not you are into surfing as the comedy involved will be enough to have you laughing throughout the week.
