What Paul is doing is, he’s very carefully crafting a message of our guilt before God. You know one of the great challenges for good people is fully understanding how desperate they are for a savior.

And I pray as we study this text today that God would cause our hearts to lean into the scripture, and that our hearts would respond with a yes and amen before we even know its application to us today.

We’re dealing with an apostle who is accused with being under pressure. an insurrectionist, an apostle who’s facing the death penalty, apostle who’s done nothing wrong except obey the will of God and finds himself in dire straits with a death penalty hanging over his head.

And in the midst of that, we learned some very powerful things about Paul. So we’re going to learn about the body of Christ this morning.

there’s a challenge here and a difficulty because from God’s perspective, sin demands the full expression of his wrath. But his heart wants to be reconciled with his creation, with every man and every woman and young person.

I think often we have overlooked the tremendous power and the work of the Holy Spirit, and I’ll talk about why in a few minutes, but I want to take a few minutes right now at the beginning of this message to review what the Holy Spirit has accomplished and what He continues to accomplish..

And it’s a very, very hard place to do ministry. It’s a beautiful place, but it’s a very spiritually dark place. And because of that, when God is doing a work like he is in our fellowship, we are going to be a target. We are going to get hammered. We will be the focus of the enemy’s attention.
