08 - The Octopus Life - for people who don't want to choose just one thing

Sometimes, none of the existing labels in the world quite fit. Multipassionate, generalist, jack of all trades,… So what do you do then? You make up your own. In this episode, Maria and I sit down with Dave Kang to talk about what he calls the octopus life, a way of living and working where you don’t need to choose one thing or niche, but allow different interests, projects, and income streams to coexist, aka your tentacles. Here are some of the things we talked about in this episode (featuring some insights from Dave): How do you define an Octopus Person? He shares, “The octopus is a symbolic metaphor for people like us, multipassionate people who like to do many things.” “I like that it’s organic, like all the other labels are kind of scientific or psychological, but octopus is more akin to how people operate.” The role of tentacles: Dave says, “I first envisioned that tentacles may be equal, but in practice, I found this very difficult. In life, there are very few things equalised.” Transitioning from a traditional career to an octopus one. Marketing yourself as an octopus: “I thought it might be eye-catching, an octopus is a visually interesting creature, you don’t see these on LinkedIn very often.” How does money come into play?“ I used to think I needed one job that has a high salary to make a living, but now I like to take control into my own hands.” Investing in yourself — should we be our own personal VC? How does AI impact our jobs and are multipassionates the future? Becoming your true self: “find something that aligns with who you are and accept that you’re wired a certain way and see if you canmake a life out of being yourself.” This episode is packed with great metaphors and useful tips to help you embrace your unique self, tentacles included.

07 - Choosing What Matters When You Want to Do It All

What do you do when everything feels important, and you want to do all of the things at once? In this episode, we’re talking about how to choose what actually matters in 2026 when you’re a multipassionate person with too many ideas and too little time. Together with Leticia, we talk about what freedom really means as our lives and businesses evolve, how to decide which goals deserve our energy right now (and which ones can wait), and why stillness is often the first, most underrated step before making any big decisions. If you could use some clarity for the new year, and a way forward that actually feels like yours, this episode is for you! Here are some of the things we talked about in this episode (featuring some insight from Leticia): How to define freedom, how this changes when our life changes and the sacrifices we must sometimes make: “Feeling free and having the power of choice and being able to choose how I spend my time is how I define freedom right now.” How to decide which goals we want to work on, what’s important and what can wait: “The first thing I do is be still, meditate and pray. Take time for stillness and prioritise that moment for myself before I decide.” Creating systems that honour your needs and energy during the year: “I follow the 12-week system, which I have been using for 3 years, and it really works for me.” How to filter out the noise online and not get overwhelmed as a multipassionate creative: “So what I’ve been doing in terms of practical things is to just unfollow people. Or mute them.” How to evolve after hitting milestones and how to grow with your business instead of stagnating: “I don’t think it ever gets to a point that I feel like I made it because the goal post keeps moving.”
