  1. The Top 10 Regrets Men Have Before They Die (And How to Avoid Them)

The Top 10 Regrets Men Have Before They Die (And How to Avoid Them)

Here's a question most men never ask themselves until it's too late: If you found out today you had six months to live what would you regret? Turns out, the answer is almost entirely predictable. And preventable. Researchers have been interviewing men in hospice care, in their 70s and 80s, men who built impressive careers and full lives — and the same ten regrets show up over and over, regardless of income, culture, or zip code. Which means two things: you're not uniquely screwed up. And these regrets can be avoided. In this episode, Dr. John Schinnerer breaks down the ten most common regrets men report later in life, what the research actually says about how regret works (hint: the things you didn't do hurt worse than the things you did), and the single pattern underneath all of it that most men never see until it's too late. You'll hear about the attorney who showed up to every recital and missed his daughter's entire childhood. The project manager who retired fully funded and spent eight months in an empty fog. The guy who spent 25 years saying he'd walk the Camino de Santiago — until his knees made the decision for him. This isn't a shame spiral. This is a heads-up. A roadmap of the terrain most men walk blindly into — and a set of tools for navigating it differently while there's still time. In this episode: Why inaction regrets are more painful and persistent than action regrets (Northwestern research) The "impact bias" — why men massively underestimate how bad future regret will feel The top 10 regrets men report most consistently as they age The Inner Board Meeting model — and why most men have the wrong executive running their life A one-week assignment that actually moves the needle (no journaling required) The launch of Proximity Coaching — AI coaches built on 30 years of real psychology, available 24/7 at proximitycoaching.com If you've had any version of the thought "I'll get to that later" — this episode is for you. 2. The Real Reason AI Adoption Keeps Failing at Work (It's Not the Tech)

    APR 20

The Real Reason AI Adoption Keeps Failing at Work (It's Not the Tech)

Most companies are solving the wrong AI problem. They're asking, "How do we get people to use AI?" when the better question is, "How do we help people feel safe enough, supported enough, and clear enough to use AI well?" Those are not the same thing. You can force exposure. You cannot force trust, nor psychological safety. In this episode of The Evolved Caveman, Dr. John Schinnerer makes the case that enterprise AI adoption is failing for reasons that have almost nothing to do with the software — and almost everything to do with fear, leadership quality, and incredible emotional strain. Pulling from Gallup's State of the Global Workplace 2026 report, we look at a set of numbers that should make leadership teams sit up: Only 12% of employees in AI-implemented organizations strongly agree AI has transformed how work gets done Yet 65% say AI has had a somewhat or extremely positive impact on their personal productivity — a huge gap between personal gains and organizational transformation Manager-led adoption is one of the top two drivers of AI use - for better or worse  Employees whose managers actively support AI are 8.7x more likely to say AI has transformed how work gets done, and 7.4x more likely to feel AI helps them do their best work Global employee engagement dropped to 20% in 2025; manager engagement fell from 27% to 22% in a single year In finance, insurance, and tech, 31–32% of employees in AI-adopting organizations believe their job could be eliminated within five years Leaders themselves report higher stress, anger, sadness, and loneliness than individual contributors We also connect this to Google's Project Aristotle finding that psychological safety is the single strongest predictor of team performance — because if people are scared to look stupid, the team gets dumber. Dr. John then introduces Tether, a new project designed as a confidential resilience coach for employees navigating AI anxiety, layoffs, change fatigue, and the human mess companies keep ignoring while obsessing over rollout timelines. Tether is now opening pilot projects with forward-thinking companies. If you're a founder, executive, People Ops leader, or manager, this episode reframes AI adoption not as a compliance or training challenge, but as a leadership and human-systems challenge — the frontier where the next decade of competitive advantage will actually be decided. 3. Why the Manosphere Feels So Right—and Why It's Failing You

    APR 6

Why the Manosphere Feels So Right—and Why It's Failing You

There's a reason those manosphere videos hit so hard. The ones that say the world is rigged against you, that you just need to get stronger, richer, more dominant — and everything will click into place. They see something real. They name a pain most guys have been told to ignore. But here's what nobody in those circles will ever tell you: the playbook they're handing you has an expiration date. And when it runs out, you're left with something worse than where you started. In this episode, Dr. John Schinnerer breaks down the three-part hook that makes manosphere content so addictive, the emotional trap hiding underneath the "stay angry, stay sharp" mentality, and what actual strength looks like when you strip away the performance. (Hint: the most confident men you know feel more, not less — they just know what to do with it.) This isn't a lecture. It's not a takedown. And it's definitely not "just be nicer." It's a different path — one built on skill, self-knowledge, and the kind of emotional strength training nobody ever taught you. If you've ever felt invisible, behind, or angry for reasons you can't fully explain — this one's for you. PODCAST LINKS FOR NOTES: Want More Confidence, Charm and Inner Leadership? Your AI Therapist Will See You Now — Should You Let It?

In this episode, Dr. John Schinnerer explores the fast-growing role of AI in mental health, emotional support, and men’s wellbeing. Why are so many men opening up to chatbots about anger, anxiety, marriage struggles, loneliness, and shame before they’ll talk to another human being? Is AI becoming a powerful new mental health tool—or a slick new way to avoid real vulnerability? Dr. John breaks down what AI can actually do for emotional health, where it can be helpful, and where it can go badly sideways. He explores emerging research on AI and wellbeing, why men may feel safer talking to machines than people, and the real risks of trusting a tool that sounds confident even when it’s wrong. He also gives a behind-the-scenes look at The Evolved Caveman Inner Leadership AI Coach and explains why a psychologically designed AI coaching tool is very different from asking a generic chatbot to play therapist. If you’ve ever wondered whether AI can help with stress, anger, relationships, emotional intelligence, or mental health, this episode will help you separate what’s useful from what’s dangerous. 1. 5. You’re Not Selfish. You’re Defending an Image.

    MAR 23

You’re Not Selfish. You’re Defending an Image.

Most men weren't taught to be selfish. They were trained to protect an image — and that's a different problem entirely. In this episode, Dr. John Schinnerer breaks down how the Man Box — the unwritten rules every boy absorbs about what "real men" do and feel — quietly creates what he calls defensive egocentrism: a pattern where men organize their entire sense of worth around performance, status, and perception instead of emotional awareness and responsibility. You'll learn why so many high-functioning men take things personally that aren't personal, why criticism feels like an attack, and why the car-honk that ruins your morning is actually a window into something much deeper. This isn't about shaming men. It's about helping you see the pattern — because you can't heal what you can't feel. In this episode: - What the Man Box actually is (and why "strength" isn't the problem) - The difference between defensive egocentrism and clinical narcissism - The honking car story — and what your reaction reveals about your identity - What emotional maturity actually looks like in a man - One question that will change how you respond to criticism this week And a special heads up — something big is coming. The Evolved Caveman Inner Leadership AI Coach is almost here: a personalized, on-demand coaching tool built specifically for high-functioning men who are done white-knuckling their way through relationships, anger, and identity. 6. Living in a Post-Truth World: The Death Of Facts

    MAR 16

Living in a Post-Truth World: The Death Of Facts

In this provocative and darkly funny episode of Living in a Post-Truth World: The Death Of Fact, host Dr. John Schinnerer explores how America entered the post-truth era—and what it’s costing our democracy, our public health, and our sanity. Dr. John examines how the Trump administration’s documented removal and disruption of public datasets—from health and climate reports to environmental justice tools—has contributed to a growing erosion of shared reality. Drawing on investigative reporting from Brookings, KFF, ProPublica, AP News, and others, he separates documented evidence from clearly labeled inference to ask a critical question: What happens when the scoreboard disappears? This episode breaks down:  The difference between misinformation and “measurement sabotage”  Health data and federal public health pages taken offline  The disappearance of major climate assessments from government websites  The shutdown of environmental justice mapping tools  How loss of public data impacts maternal health, public safety, and policymaking  Why fear, uncertainty, and nervous system dysregulation make men especially vulnerable to propaganda  The psychological mechanics behind the post-truth movement  How narrative control replaces evidence when public measurement is weakened Dr. John also brings in philosophy—yes, epistemology—to explain why understanding how we know what we know is no longer academic trivia but democratic survival training. Most importantly, he offers practical tools to stay grounded in a chaotic information landscape, including his CALM framework for “fact fitness”. This is not a partisan rant. It’s a sober, evidence-based discussion about protecting shared reality in an age of narrative warfare. If you care about democracy, critical thinking, media literacy, public health data, climate transparency, and staying regulated in polarized times, this episode is essential listening. Because when facts disappear, whoever holds the microphone controls reality. And that should concern all of us.Want a Higher Baseline of Calm, Confidence, and Control? How to Save Humanity From Itself

A Manifesto for Men Who Want To Heal Their Community  Humanity isn’t being destroyed by “the other side.”It’s being destroyed by what happens to a human nervous system under threat. When men feel humiliated, stressed, or powerless, we don’t get wiser — we get tribal, righteous, cruel, and certain. We turn people into villains so we can feel like heroes without doing the hard work of becoming one. This episode is a manifesto for men who refuse to become the problem. Not a political rant. Not a “be nicer” sermon. A blueprint for strength without domination, power without corruption, confidence without contempt. You’ll learn: why certainty is a cheap drug that leads to dehumanization how to build friction between you and your worst impulses how to find the real emotion under anger (fear, shame, grief, loneliness) how to replace “good vs evil” with threat vs need why repair is the highest form of masculine leadership how to hold boundaries without hatred and tell the truth without cruelty Because the future won’t be saved by perfect people. It’ll be saved by enough men who can stay human under stress — and stop burning the village down.
